THE OTHER MONTH I BOUGHT MY NEW GOLF. THE SELLER EXPLAINED THAT THE CENTRAL LOCKING DID NOT WORK AND THAT EVERY DOOR HAD TO OPENED MANUALLY. DUE TO THIS HE GAVE A MASSIVE DISCOUNT. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL AUDIO SHOP TO SEE WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM AND THEY SAID IT WAS A VACUUM LOCKING SYSTEM WHICH IN OTHER WORDS MENT EVERY DOOR HAD TO BE OPENED MANUALLY! I WAS ABIT DISSAPOINTED AND ALSO LOOKED AT PRAT AS I TOLD THEM CENTRAL LOCKING SYSTEM DIDN'T WORK.
I DONT KNOW BUT WHEN OPENING THE DRIVERS DOOR I THOUGHT IT MAY OPEN ALL THE OTHERS BUT IT DOESN'T BUT I CAN HEAR A MECHANISM INSIDE TRYING TO WORK WHICH MAYBE THE SOLUTUION TO THE PROBLEM THAT MAYBE A MOTOR HAS DIED INSIDE! OR IS IT THAT MY GOLF HAS NO KIND OF EASIER LOCKING SYSTEM AND I HAVE TO ACCEPT THIS IS MANUALLY LOCKING ONLY.
ALSO CAN ANYONE RECCOMEND A SECURTIY SYSTEM OR LOCKING SYSTEM TO BUY? CHEERS

its a 1.4 e 16v 5dr and theres no fob with itbut dont know if there has ever been one for it. just thought it may unlock the passenger side door when i open the drivers side door manually with key at least!

If does / Should have Central locking, it should unlock if you turn the key twice in the lock in quick succession, I.E. once for drivers door and twice for all doors. This is what i was doing last week when I thought mine had packed up!
