Now being mk4 Golfs they're not classics and not hard to find standard.
So when you add a part do you keep the old one?
Everything I've done I've kept the old parts to revert it back to standard when I sell it on. And i plan to do this even for the exhaust and suspension when and if I get round to those!
What do you do?

only kept my old brake setup, old gearstick and i've got the old springs but the drivers side is so badly rusted its not worth anything
sold the following
steering wheel
intercooler pipe
rear lights
mudflaps
and threw away scratched / broken interior trim
at this point in time i can see myself keeping the car until it rots - can't think / find / afford a car which suits my lifestyle as well as the MKIV

I've kept everything like Bosch DV, rear rear wiper set up and so on!

can't be bothered trying to sell stuff on
the way i see it stuff like brakes, pipework etc there is no point keeping it as you've replaced it with better, longer lasting items

same but i have kept everything just incase

I've still got my old number plates  God knows why!
I think it's good to keep all your standard parts and when you come to eventually sell the car, you can restore it back to standard easily if you're struggling to get what you want for it when modified (costing in all your blood, sweat and tears).

I've got all my original parts sat in my shed. They take up far too much room though lol

My God, I'm a right hoarder....... I keep everything, LOL!! (& doesn't the GF let me know it!!
I've even kept my old smoky KO-3 & cracked manifold, LOL!
The only things I can't/prob won't put back to std are the turbo, Monty 1's (sold) & the remap.
I've got locked away:-
Monty 2's with R888's
Std discrete turbo-back
Std Anni backbox
STD rear valance (also colour coded)
3 BAR FPR
288mm carriers/discs
3 sets of pads
STD DV
Std gear linkage
I'll even put my STD headlight bulbs back in if I ever sell!!
