Title: Vacuum hoses on air box
Post by: dragongreen16v on 10 May 2004, 13:21
Recently changed the air filter, on putting it back together I forgot what order the two vacuum hoses (side of airbox) go back on! I've tried them both ways and it doesn't make a difference to the way the car runs. They are obviously to do with the air temp and are there for a reason. The engine is the 16 valver.

All they do is open/close the flap which lets hot air in off the exhaust shroud, if the inlet temp is cold enough.
Don't worry about it.

yes, I understand that, but at the end of the day if they are on the wrong way, maybee It's letting hot air in when it should be cold or vice versa. Do you have them on yours? I don't think you do on a VR6 not sure though.

If the hoses aren't connected then the flap won't open at all, if they are connected back to front then it will still probably open when it needs to.
Vr6 doesn't have them, it has a coolant heated throttle body.
The hot air system is completely pointless in this country , so i wouldn't bother with it.
