I have recently had my engine converted to an ABF engine found in the mk3 16v golf.

but it's certainly a damn sight quicker than before!the miltek downpipe and system sound really nice, and the g60 brakes are far better than the 256mm jobbies.
now for the interior...

Due to the amount of info on this I've read already, I've gotten a bit confused in the fog. I don't want to thread hijack, but thought Tom might know the answer seen as though he's just had the ABF done. I'm after a quick answer to this question...
With a stock Mk2 KR 16v, you can either bolt a 2.0L block (9a, ABF etc.) to the KR head, or as Tom has done, actually fit the entire ABF system. So... Is the main benefit of going to the trouble of fitting the whole ABF system that you can then improve the ignition/fueling more easily (and if you wanted to add megasquirt for example) because the system is fully electronic, as opposed to K-Jet etc???

^ mine is using the ABF block and head, but retains the KR inlet manifold and Kjet fueling - this is because i plan on going down the throttle bodies route as soon as i can afford the kit.
To change over to the fully electronic system is (ABF loom etc) is a serious mission!

Don't be such a girl.
It's not so hard. You just need to be methodical with it and have the right diagrams.
Bodies and MS are clearly the way to go though.

Should have ABF on standard management dyno plot and then ABF on bodies and MS before the end of the year..... to go with my crossflow 8V on standard inlet and Digi2 management vs MS and bodies. :cool:

The electronic will ensure the car is tractable and also good on fuel (when you're not leathering it).
It will also manage the mixture better, for optimum performance.
You should then be able to chip-tune it cheaply and it should keep the right mixture all the way through the rev-range, unlike K-Jet, which could wander about a lot.

If the lump in my daily ever pops (god knows i've tried, still fine) then I'll go ABF on standard management and loom, but with wild cams.

Can the standard management of an ABF engine be re-mapped in any way, shape or form?
