Title: mk3 8v Clutch / Gearbox Problems
Post by: BeNiNuK on 02 September 2008, 22:31
Ok, yet another problem.

Its a golf mk3 2ltr 8v

i was driving along and the clutch was slipping slightly, then all of a sudden the gear stick went loose and was able to move all the way to the left and right!  , but the clutch has to be in, the car seems to be stuck in a gear, but will come out when u press the clutch in, but u cant change the gear.

I have had a recon gearbox put in about 7 months ago, so this shouldnt have gone.

Sounds like the linkage has come loose from the gearbox somehow, not an expensive job.  can you get under the car to inspect the linkage?

£7 from stealers!

left right gear linkage rod! (your one mite even pop back on its ball joint! mine did)

If the gears are stiff and your having to force them change the gearbox oil!
