Need some advice please, as most of you have probably read I got my GTI on Saturday. All has been well so far, however since using the windscreen washers a few times I have noticed my xenon washers do not 'pop up' and spray the lights. The R32 I used to have and GT TDI with winter pack also had the washers. They would activate on about every 5th use of the windscreen washers or every 5th time the lights are turned on.
I was driving last night with my lights on and sprayed on/off the windscreen washer about 10 to 15 times. Not once did the headlight nossles pop up on either side. Before I book into the stealers can any of you advice on anything I can check for myself? I didnt want to try and prise them out and in as I am an unsure if there is a manual release system in place shoud be auto mechanism get stuck for any reason. Thanks!

Are you sure you have enough washer fluid?
In my old Lupo Gti which had xenons the washers did not work once the fluid went below a certain level, not sure if it the same in the Golf. HTH

Washer fluid is full to the brim im afraid

my technical opinion then is that they are buggered then!
or maybe it is just a fuse

I believe you are correct on the once in every five uses of the windscreen washers but only only when the headlights are on.
-
Scuse the thick questions - needs to be asked though, but are the Xenons the proper factory fit items? And are you positive they are actually Xenons? (Some peeps think that projector headlamps also mean Xenons, which is obviously not true.)
What about the delay setting?
Make sure your ignition is on, and the headlamp switch is set to dipped headlamps (rather than relying on the Auto headlamps setting) - now pull and hold for 10 seconds the screenwash lever - and see if they work with an extra long delay.

As above, do you have the two panels on the front part just under the light like the picture below, and do your headlights look the same as those in the picture too

They are proper xenons for sure - factory fit. See the pic below of my car:

I think they are technically 'buggered' as I have the same results even when the lights are on. I could get them to pop up easy on my R32 after the 5 sprays on the windscreen. Would happen every time without fail.

yeh there them, looks like a trip to the dealers, may be worth checking the fuses first ?

synea, just a daft question, but turn on your lights and try having a squert, and see if they work then. They only operate in the dark, lights are on, or breaking the speed limit if they are set on auto!.
just seen TT mention aswell

I think the fuse for the headlamp washers is the same for all the other squirty bits - though no harm in checking both fuse boxes. Make sure that if you are gonna pull each fuse to have a look-see, then remove the ignition key, and turn off the interior lights.
You can also check the pump relatively easy, but you need to remove the right fog light grille (one philips screw, and carefully pull), and the fog lamp also (3 Ph screws, and unclip the wiring). The headlamp washer pump is on the front face of the resevior, and is the one nearest the outer edge - ie, looking through the fog lamp aperture towards the rear, the h/l washer is on the left.

Yes did all that still not working. I think something needs replaced for sure. Thanks TT also for the help. Gonna see here if I can check the fuse.
