Title: Leaving my lights on...
Post by: GIJo on 02 September 2008, 18:19
Hello all. Been loving all your posts. Maybe you can help me...

I just bought a beautiful Golf GTi 1.8 yesterday and spent hours reading all your posts and planning all the things I want to do (you guys have fantastic ideas but are gonna be the cause of me being skint!) but...
this morning I very stupidly left my lights on when I went to work and killed the battery.
I'm such a spanner but it didn't beep when I opened the drivers door and I'm really not a morning person.
Is it supposed to beep when you leave them on and open the doors or not? And if it is, is it a simple thing to sort do you think?

Thanks very much!

Hello and welcome yes it is ment to beep. Does your interior light work?

Yeah I'm sure it does. I will run out and double check. My car doesn't bleep when I lock it either. Is that normal? I think maybe I have an obsession with my car bleeping at me!

its ment to but since ive had the auto locks on and the door module playing up it hasnt beeped at me, so maybe theres a problem with the door locks or maybe a switch has gone somewhere!!!

I've just been playing with it and I've noticed that my interior light does work when you turn it on or unlock ther car however, it doesn't work when I open the doors even though it's set to.

Erm...What are puddle lights? :embarassed:
I'm not having a very good day!!! Is the door module something I'm likely to be able to do myself. I trained as a mechanic for a couple of years about 7 years ago. I don't really remember too much but I'm alright ish :undecided:

Yeah, I've been out playing and they defo flash everytime

Red lights in the bottom of the doors - If it is the door module its not too bad a job TBH

Cheers guys. I was looking at the maintenace section yesterday and just remembered seeing the bit about door module. Might tackle it at the weekend. Untill then, a post it note on my steering wheel should do the trick. Thanks very very much. You've no idea how much you've brightened my day. You're legends. Thank you!!

I don't think so. I'll double check when it's dark. The door lock on my passenger door is playing up anyway so that's an indication there is something wrong with the door module too right?
