Hi,
Anyone know where these can be purcahsed from? Ideally looking for OEM but doesn't really matter if not. Just want the lenses and not the actual light workings. Not bothered if they are 2nd hand either.
Got a price for about £118 but that seems steep for 6 pieces of tinted plastic?????
Any help welcomed,
cheers

you could try abcautodesigns who import mhw lights.... and they should be cheaper than the prices you've quoted?? (all though I dont think there o.e prices as my indicators list at £42 each!! at the dealer. unless that is just the covers??)
-
This was from VAG parts,
The guy must of got confused cos its only 6 pieces of plastic lense I'm after; 2 indicator lenses, 2 blanking lenses for the stupid middle bit and then 2 fog lenses.
-
My friend had some from ebay, they looked very good quality to be honest.

Just get some tint spray, if you prep it right it could turn out just as good as the ones on ebay
-
so you spent £240 in total on the lenses????????????????????? or £120??
-
if my math is right £240 m8  well its the price to pay for quality parts i guess :undecided:
-

90 x 2
15 x 2
15 x 2
240 for full set up
i paid cost price tho as i have a contact in the dealership, had to wait for them to come from Germany tho
they look awesome on my car tho

They do look ace mate!!
I'm only after the lenses though, are you quoting for the full piece of kit including the actual electric light fittings?
-
yes mate thats for the whole lot, you can get just the glass, they are around 25 quid each but i cant remember where they can be had, its not the dealer was somewhere else, will come back to me, i do know its almost impossible to swap the lenses without breaking them on the rears, and they never seal correct one they have been in bits (did a mates, was a nightmare)
you might be best off going for the ones in ther ebay link posted above, the seller has just the fogs (complete) for 59 quid... thats not bad for the full unit
-
Yeah I'm just after the glass really.
Are they easy enough to swap over?
-

not really easy tbh
you have to prize them off at the back, theirs 2 clips that hold them on but they are made of plastic and slide into another plastic bit which breaks very very easy, also the adjuster screw can snap of easy too. its do able but not ideal and u will probably find they leak in, we had to seal the bar stewards up lots..
i have a second set of smoked fogs but they are not for sale as i may need them, people nick them alot so io have them as a back up..
-
Another option for you, my funds were tight so I picked up tinted Inds and blanks on ebay for a bargain price and tinted my fogs using stained glass paint, would loved smoked ones but could not justify spending that much at the moment.

next question
wiring up fogs when they were not fitted originally - difficult? leave it to a pro? 20 mins and a cup of tea??
-
piss easy, 20 min job, u need the corredt switch and the loom
the loom replaces the one thats at the top of the rad, the big connector...
-
kells,
What Hella headlights are they? Been seraching for months and keep finding the wrong ones. Got a product code or serial number that will let me search for them?
Cheers
-
Kells, your fog setup does look nice, BUT F me £240
I bought a new glass lense for one of my fogs as mine had a crack, was £17 quid from VW and was a mission to swap.
I may go for these ebay Items, but il let someone else try before I buy :nerd: :smug:
-
yep bloody rip off tbh but their you go
88mph has the other ones off ebay, they look the same as mine but without the hella logo, his did leak abit (but many of the OE ones do also)
what you need to do is use some locktite sealent round all the joins and its all good, 5 min job
here is link to what you need (awesome stuff)

Yeh, I used some similar locktite stuff for my old mk2 t-bar leak.
Although its only a small Hella badge, it makes all the difference.

lol...hence why they live on my car, for me personally it has to be OE ...
i do have a (used) but mint second set of Hella smoked fogs, blanks and indicators but really wanna hang onto them in case something happens to mine
-
i bought genuine items too from ebay
