You might have seen a guy on these forums synnea who has owned a R32, stupidly got married and bought a diesel, and has now got himself a GTI... I must thank his wife, as i am the beneficiary in the sale of his R32 (and his wee brother).... I thought it was about time that i came on and joined this forum to express the love for the R32 and many other Golfs out there...
also i would like say just how impressed i was with the GTI. Only got about 5mins drive in it but i really like the smooth delivery of power. I will like to see the remap it lined up along side the R. Interesting match up in my book......
Thanks
Steve, aka Les

welcome Les (aka another person on here called steve!!)
Customary to supply us all picture whores with some photo's.
Id race the GTi before he remaps it or he might just have a smirk on his face .
Enjoy your wheels and enjoy your long stay here

lol, he has 280bph to go up against in my R, full miltek exhaust and remap. Same remap done to another R and it was pushing out 274bhp with no miltek. I look forward to heathly competition from him, But i am hopping no smirk lol

Hello & Welcome from yet another Steve

One thing I have noticed since getting the GTI on Sat it how light and nimble it is compared to the R. Its only now I am realising how heavy the R32 is with that V6 lump upfront and the Haldex system. You may have your 280BHP, but by the time you take into account your extra weight and Haldex transmission loss I reckon my 240BHP GTI will give you a run for your money. As for the lads on here with remapped Edition 30s - your crome front grille will shine nicely in their rear view mirror....
In the wet however I had may as well be in a canoe...
Welcome wee bro to the forum

I work with Steve.. Welcome to the forum and i'm looking forward to a spin in the R32 tomorrow

This thread is a classic

May i also just add that i am getting my R32 back today!!! the flywheel and clutch went on it on friday just before i had a trackday in it on monday. Talk about being GUTTED!!! On behalf of the rest of the forum i would like to publicly blame the 12,000 miles of driving my brother did in the R before selling it to me. I fully blame wearing the clutch away due to his abusive driving nature and would like to wish good luck to his GTI!!!!
-
I drove it like she was built to be driven.
All I can say is my bro gets 30mpg 'driving' his R32 to work, he boasted about how economical it was for a V6, how he manages only one tank of fuel for a week..... I used to get 18 or 20mpg on a similiar journey to work when I had it. Nuff said

Get it rite bro.... 36.6mpg once!!!
Are you sure you havent swapped the V6 for a TDI engine? I did believe you when you said she was in having the clutch replaced - but maybe it was the engine you got changed! Or wait - thats right you may have got the 36.6mpg when your mate had to tow you home in his ford focus ST (sorry for the bad language).....
