hello all, i wondered if anyone has any suggestions as to how to remove the bolts holding the gearbox in place? they are multipoint socket type heads which have rounded off. i have tried the usual mole grips and lockable pliers to grip with no joy. i have also tried hex keys knocked in to turn still with no joy. i am unable to go any further with this until i can drop the old gearbox out. any help would be greatly appreciated. its a mk3 2.0 8 valve kind regards the newbie

Try an old 12-sided socket & a hammer if you can get it in there...

go for the equivelent 12 sided socket in imperial as there usually slightly smaller, or next size down and beat the socket on, or just grind the heads off and remove the rest later on when box is removed,
