Title: MK.1 Gearbox code

Morning all,I was wondering if anybody knows if a MK.1Gti on a `83 plate should  only have a 4 speed box,I  sure they should be all 5`s,I found some sort of code on the bottom of the box 7G03013, 4 speed is a bit of a bore as I like to change gears a bit,cheers 4 eyes.

My 83 has a 5 spd. Don't know if your car should have a 4 or 5 spd, it is a easy conversion to change it to a 5spd.

I was thinking of trying a 5 speed from a mk2,I guess it should be ok.The old 4 speed is not very good on long journeys.
