Title: darkened headlamps.. :)
Post by: jamie16v on 29 August 2008, 19:18
today i decided to tint my headlamps.. after doing the indicators which i made a bit of a mess of.
i had already darkened them by painting in the non needed reflective bits on the inside of the headlamps.. but it didnt look bad enough for me..
here is how it looked before i started this evening..

then dicky came around to my place to sell me some of his lower vents (cant really see them in the pics but theyre cool (also drilled a hole for the ambient temp sensor)..
so after he left i fitted the indicators which i made a mess of then thought "what next"?... so.. out came the headlamps and i tinted the glass..
i didnt want to go too dark so i gave as little coats as i could without it being patchy..
to be honest.. i love it.
here is how it looks now... vents fitted too...

looks v cool, but arent the lights dimmer?

im on the look out for some new headlights, ideally hella twins or morettes. Kells ones look pretty sweet, wouldnt mind a set like those, but knowing kells they aint standard!!!

That's the sort of look I'm after :o

Don't wanna risk tinting the lights themselves though lol

as for the headlamps its the normal darkening trick but with added window tint spray to the glass itself...

they look real good mate may have a go at somthing similar me self! be interesting to know what mr m.o.t and plod think about them though , i suppose they still got all the bs numbers on them so they cant really say 2 much? dunno if they measure the brightness of them i suppose not , iv have some cars that would ave been better if id fitted candles on the front and they were standard!!

as said though hids should sort them!!

some standard window tint spray from the local motor factors mate.. it cost about 6 quid a tin.
