Title: windscreen??
Post by: vixteris on 08 May 2004, 00:07
would anyone be able to guesstimate me how much a new windscreen would cost for my cab - ive been offered a second hand one to pick up at inters for 30quid but it would obviously still need fitting.  so would i be better off buying new??  ???

thanks in advance guys  :-*

You should be able to make a claim for one from your car insurance. You may have to pay a ?50 excess, but they will fit it for you.

Call you Ins Co and find out...  If you have arrange it there and then, if not I think that ?30 is good as long as it has no cracks...  Fitting is fairly easy, get ya old man round ;)

generally removing windscreen.
remove chrome trim and push it from the inside GENTLY, get someone on the outside so it does not fall onto the body. neeless to say push at the edges NOT in the centre.
the string trick is when fitting a long peice of string is wrapped round the rubber wich will by now be fitted to the new screen and while someone is holding it in place pull slowly on the string and this helps locate the rubber over the bodywork lip which holds the screen in place. the silver trim is replaced and all that is left to do is to wait for the next evil stone to b**ger up you hard work
