Title: Brake conversion
Post by: Dan34 on 27 August 2008, 10:45
Heres me problem:

Ive got 1.4 8v with shocking brakes and wondered how hard it is to convert the calipers and that to GTI ones. What needs to be done and is it quite hard?

Thanks

Dan

you going to do fronts and rears or just the fronts?

You might be best of just getting some good pads and discs on the front, would make a big difference.

If not, just upgrade the fronts, as your rear will be drums, and the gti has discs on the rear.

Fronts do most of the breaking too ;)

Buy some mk2 caliper carriers and fit 256mm vented discs and narrow (early i think) spec pads...keeping your o.e calipers
or you can get grooved discs and u/r pads?? but being solid they arnt really for the enthuiastic driver!!
