What works well 17s or 18s or 16s maybe?
What rim & j size are you guys running and with what suspension drop (in mm) also add tyre size.
-
16's work the best, i found that with 17's it rubbed when i had kids in the back and that was with the Jamex kit i have on at the moment.
-
Mine's lowered 40mm with 16's. You can obviously go bigger but the wheel arches will probably need rolling to stop the rubbing.
-
I am running coilovers and 17"s on mine, I had to grind/cut back the rear arches plus lose the plastic trims.

porsche rims!!! they got a high offset so you can get adapter's to bring em out, as much as you like , iv got 30 or 35mm on my 16"s cant quite remember , and i had the car so low the splitter was eating tarmac and the wheels didnt rub no mods , even on full lock they only just touch the inner arch !
and as said tyres are an importand concideration !

16s, no bigger, bad handling, weight, rubbin, and look like a tractor :P

Well mine is ok on 17"s, no rubbing at all now I have modified the arches.
-
I'm boring and run the standard 15's but with a 80mm front and 70mm rear drop!! She dont like speed humps no more...
-
im not sure of the drop, but it is quite low, front splitter is now cracked and scrapped bad on the bottom. I had it lower, but the underbody scrapped on speed bumps, so raised it like 10-20mm and now i can go over speed bumps fine, etc. Its only bad when you go fast down a badly tarmaced road and the suspension bounces and then the splitter hits the floor cause it is soo bouncy!
I run 15" alloys with 195/45/15 no rubbing in the arches ever, even with a full car and luggage in the boot.
I do know that the front splitter is about 8-9cm off the ground. I think i found a good height tbh. No rubbing, minimal scrapping and looks low
problem with 16's is that you cant really get the stretched look as i cant find any tyres that are thin enough, samllest is 195. my azevs that are sat in the garage have 205's on and look v bulgy and they are 7J.

17s and lowered fair bit on coilovers. no scrubbing. only thing that catches are the mudflaps comming off kerbs haha
-
yeah thats the good thing about 17's, you can get the low look without going really low, as they fill the arches easier. That means you are less likely to rip you splitter off or catch the sump or get grounded on a speed bump!!

HI, what coilover kit are you using and how much drop?
-
id say 60 70 mm and im on supersport or supersprint coilovers.
-
i think 16's are the way foreward. i dropped mine approx 70mm on FK's, never had a problem at all with rubbing!!! handles a dream and still has its comfort. by the way can any one find Borbet A's in 5 stud application?
-
you would have to have them drilled. they aint made in 5 stud anymore. only 4stud :D
-
well aint that a bi@ch ha ha stud adaptors work?
-
Mine is lowered 50mm on Bilstein Shock & Springs, with 16's. Very happy, Best in my opinion

Mine had 17s and standard springs on when I bought it - gripped well enough but tramlined like a b'stard. Put it back on standard 15s and everything worked SOOOOO much better. Sold the wheels for £140 (even with a knackered tyre) as they were badly kerbed split-rims (kerbed by the previous owner!).
-
Ah someone talking sence......I'm not a fan of 17's and the way the mk3 drives with them fitted!
oh and an answer to a post earlier....its difficult to find 5 to 4 stud converters and it would make more sence to buy some other wheels (as I bet your seaching for ever finding some)
-
Mine does not tramline one bit with 17"s, even running as low as it is, drives fine.
-
i have been looking for barbet's for ages but to no joy  i understand now
think plan b is the way foreward on a nice set of 16" Keskin KT1's. think these look mint on mk 3's with a healthy drop too and also not bad money
