Title: HELP PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: dickie_brown on 23 August 2008, 20:32
HI

Help needed......... Does anybody know the location of the "Output Stage For The Ignition Coils"?

My car is a 1998 GOLF GTi TURBO 1.8 Mk4
AGU Engine.

The car has a missfire, we have proved all four (4) Ignition coils are fine, the plugs have been replaced also, but still there is no spark on cylinder 3.
We suspect a possible cabling fault, loose/broken wire etc (unless someone knows different) between the Output Stage For Ignition Coils(which we cant find) and the ignition coil and.
Each ignition coils has three cores connected to it, two of which are common to the other coils, we suspect these two are ok as all three other fires fire ok. The core we need to check is the Grey(Gr)/Black(Sw).....but we need to know where the Output thingy is located.....can anyone help!!!!![/b]

How did you test the coil packs exactly?

The wires do break on these 1.8t's near the coil pack. ive had to solder these before and then heat shink etc...

Swap the suspected faulty ign coil (3) with coil number 4 and then do another fault code check. If it shows as a missfire on coil 4 now then you know what to do

not much help but its a broken wire or faulty coil pack. doubt its anything else mate.
