Title: vr6 problem

right i was just driving my golf 1993 vr6 and it started chugging and just cut out.
 i started it back up drove a bit more down the road and it started smoking real bad and cut out again.
this time it wudnt start baack up so i luked underd the bonnet and noticed by my air filter there are sum wires that have got really hot and the black casing has melted and the wires were all striped back and touching each other and also the  2 wires have sum out of a 2 pin plg under my air filter the [plug connects 2 2 pipes


please help me as my car is just parked up on the side of the road and i dnt  wnt it 2 get damaged

can you not re insulate all the wires as a temp fix with some insulation tape, sounds as tho they are shorting out against each other...

this may work so u can get the car home and fix it propperly

yeh thats what im gona do in the morning it just dnt make sense y its dun it  and i need 2 no incase it happen on hte way home and does even more damage

I would just tape them up for now, so they dont touch, and drive it back home ASAP.

Around here it would have most of the bits stolen or the whole car stolen in 1 night.

If not, tow it back home!

If its the sensors in the air box, i ran without those for a while ;)

right i replaced a few wires and taped um all up so there insuralated i also found that my 109 fuel pump relay had poped ys this? also my no18 fuse engine electronics fuse keeps poping wen i turn the ignition on????

something must have shorted to make them pop.... Sure you taped everything right?

right then people ive dun my wires and put a fuel pump relay 109 so it starts up and then revs up thn cuts out the fuel pump realay clicks and the oil light flashs wen it cuts out any ides?
