Title: Buying a car at a show ???'s
Post by: tobz. on 06 May 2004, 11:03
Hi all
I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed that I might be able to find my next golf for sale at inters this weekend and was wondering if anybody had experience of buying a car at a show?
Obviously I'm a little concerned about walking around all day with a pocket full of cash so was wondering if people selling cars at shows generally expect to sell the car outright there and then or take a deposit and make arrangements to complete the sale later. My concern about the deposit option is that I don't know where they're from and have no guarantee they will complete the deal.
Any advice from someone with experience in this area would be helpful.

Cheers
Toby

Toby

I have never bought a car at a show, but personally I would pay a deposit say ?100, then make arrangements to complete later.

The seller will probably bring the documents ie history etc to the show, which should confirm their details, and make sure you get a receipt from them for your deposit.

Good luck
