My mates just brought a MK4 GTI 2.0 got it for a good price from and aution just got a couple of niggly problems. The airbag light is on on the dash my mate had it on his S3 and it was the sensor under the seat is this a common problem. And the other thing is the front windows wont open and the interior light wont come on havent checked the fuses yet any ideas?
-
have you had it HPi'd could have been accident repaired and not reset the light? windows and light is most likely a fuse i would have thought have you tried the switch for the window on passenger side in case there is a fault with the drivers switch unit
-
Not sure mate aint my car. His spoken to AMD and they said its a common problem and they will sort it when they service it. Neither side works mate so I reckon its gotta be the fuse.
-
yeah most likely mate hope so nice cheap repair then

Is yours the 2.0 litre or the 1.8? Thats what my mate said his gonna do later.

mines the 2.0 8v

mines the 2.0 8v
Think the easiest way mate is finding a 20V thats been in a rear end smash and taking all the bits you need from that.

been looking into both options to be honest, trouble is cant find a rear ender anywhere, plus i want to be a bit different to the norm, but at least th 20v lump is designed for the turbo, :undecided: not sure what to do

Can see where your coming from about wanting something different mate. You must be able to convert the 2.0 8V to turbo you would obviously need forged pistons in order to lower the compression ration to 8:5:1 which is what you need for turbos. Have you tried talking to AMD Tuning?
-
no havent spoken to them, do they have a website? imation on here has found a kit in the states, no pistons included though,

you can also get a turbo exhaust manifold made up for the 2.0 the americans seem to be doing it a lot more than over here

Im actually suprised alot more people havent done it over here then. Its proberly because its so much easier to just fit the 20V. Heres AMD's link though mate sure they will be able to help you. amdtechnik.com
