from what i remember there's two ways of doing it. Try searching for a semi recent thread that explained it. although it may have been wiped when the forum went down.

try this way
With ignition switched off press and hold the trip reset button. Switch ignition on and release the reset button. Turn the knob to reset the minutes on the clock to the right and the display should return to normal.

rhyso...
i tried that method but i was expecting a confirmation message or somethign once i turn the knob after about 5 secs it goes to normla display.

you won't get a confirmation message
when you turn the ignition does it come up with service now? if not then its reset

you've confused me......
your old clocks had 1400 until the service then you put in new clocks - i would have thought thats set to 10,000 miles....
you can use VAG COM to reset it again if you really want too i guess
-
yeam my new clocks will more than likely be set to 10 000 but obviously they wud start from 10 000 from when i installed em so they would be 8600 miles out of sync.... hence why i am askign how to reset it ....do u sort fo get what i mean its difficult to explain m8
-
why don't you just get the car serviced now then?
-
i hav ei have just serviced it but i wanted the new clocks to be in sync with the car so i remebered the car was due at 67 i got it serviced but obviously the clocks woudl of probably started the contdown from when they were installed or earlier... therfore i want to reset the new clocks so that there in sync with the engine do u get me ???
-
so how many miles has the car done SINCE the clocks?
i'd suggest just ignore the SERVICE NOW warning when it re-appears and re-sync then
