from what i remember there's two ways of doing it. Try searching for a semi recent thread that explained it. although it may have been wiped when the forum went down.

try this way

With ignition switched off press and hold the trip reset button.  Switch ignition on and release the reset button.   Turn the knob to reset the minutes on the clock to the right and the display should return to normal.

you won't get a confirmation message

when you turn the ignition does it come up with service now? if not then its reset

you've confused me......

your old clocks had 1400 until the service then you put in new clocks - i would have thought thats set to 10,000 miles....

you can use VAG COM to reset it again if you really want too i guess

yeam my new clocks will more than likely be set to 10 000 but obviously they wud start from 10 000 from when i installed em so they would be 8600 miles out of sync.... hence why i am askign how to reset it ....do u sort fo get what i mean its difficult to explain m8

so how many miles has the car done SINCE the clocks?

i'd suggest just ignore the SERVICE NOW warning when it re-appears and re-sync then
