Title: Relay bloody 30
Post by: VW BUSH on 15 August 2008, 20:44
Had a niggley rev flutter on and off for a few months now
if i unplugged the Maf etc and plugged it in again it seemed to cure it for a week or so.
Well i was clearing out my draws the other day and found a spare new R30 so thought ill fit it.
Flutter went so i took the old one (12months) apart and tested it at work, bloody thing was faulty!
contact was not being made properly every time
How naff is that
VW should be ashamed

What colour was the old one...? as the black ones were the dodgy ones and vw replaced em with the greyish ones.

the black ones were made in thailand or soemwhere similar and were shocking!! all for a price saving of about £1 per relay!!

I have a ever so slight flutter to the revs when the car is idling. Not enough to drop the rev counter but enough to hear it. Could this relay be to blame?

similar problem on mine, changed relays and cleaned TB, changed MAF, coolant sensor, lambda probe, checked timing etc etc, in the end it was a faulty TB, replaced that and its fine, bloody expensive tho!!!
