Hi Guys,
I have just brought myself a 93 mk3 golf (grey, 1.4, 3 door) and the drivers side electric window doesn't work. I've half sorted the problem - 2 wires from the chassis were cut. The other part of the problem was the switch.
I've got a switch from a GTI (don't have any more details) which fits my door panel but not the wiring (yet).
Can anyone tell me how to wire a GTI elec window switch to a non GTI golf?
Even if someone could tell me what wire colours meant what would be a start - The car has a Red (spits into 4), Brown (splits into 4), Black with Blue stripe (to the motor), Blue with black stripe (to the motor), Grey, and a black (both I think go to the passenger side door)
I guess the switch off the GTI takes out the necessity to split the cables into 4, as there are only 6 connectors on the switch, but there are 12 wires (inc spplits)
ANY information would be greatly appreciated
BTW, I cannot find a single wiring diagram that either makes sense or seems to match my model
many thanks

I would have thought an electric window switch would be the same on a GTi and non-GTi  I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

You stand corrected
Sorry, couldn't resist. The old original switch came with 12 pins, the new one has 6
I'm gonna try an get the multimeter out and attempt to draw a schematic of the new switch
