Right, I was going to go for a re-map this weekend, but after reading jonnyturbo's dilemma thread, I decided I should get all my other mods in there first. Since I got the car last Friday, I've thrown in a BMC CDA and Forge Splitter DV and it's sounds nuts... but it doesn't look it IMO.
So I'm in need of some exterior styling mods I think...
What I had in mind was an R32 front bumper, an R-Line rear bumper, some 18s (would 19s be too big?) to sit on and a shiny new Miltek, I wanted the 4motion style twin pipe Miltek but I'm not sure if it'll fit with R-Line rear bumper (there's no cut-out is there?)? And if I did just get the exhaust this weekend, could I fit it without a new rear bumper? Would I just have to get the 4motion rear valance for the time being??
I'm after some advice really, I don't know which things to do, and in what order. I'm leaning towards wheels and exhaust to be honest, I'd have to wait for the bodyshop to spray up bumpers etc... And I'm not a big fan of waiting. Hehe.

1st question - how much you got to spend?
-
I was thinking about 2 grand, over the next few weeks.
-
I've got to make it look like I'm not getting the parts all at once lol. Mrs wouldn't be happy about that.
EDIT - 'cool face' wasn't the right choice of smiley was it really? Are there any pussy cats??

fooking ell!!
well firstly buy ME a set of these http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=87547.0
and then i'll give you more suggestions
what suspension you got? you got bigger brakes?
i'd sort that out first along with your remap and possibly Milltek
make it go then do it up for show
-
It's totally standard besides the BMC and Forge, so brakes and suspension are standard at the moment.
How much am I looking at for breaks and suspension though? 2 grand seems alot, but it doesn't seem to stretch that far lol.
-
Your anni wheels are in the post by the way. lol.
-
RIch is gonig to self explode when he sees this thread. 2 grand for him to spend on someone elses car. Its going to be like xmas for him.

re-read my post - i said BUY ME those wheels which will leave you with £1500
brakes = £250 ish for the 312mm upgrade
Suspension - approx £450 for decent stuff
Remap = £300ish depending on who does it
Full Milltek = £650 plus fitting
-
2k fair play, that will get spent very quickly lol

1500 after Ryhso's wheels lol.

Just been looking at the price of the remaps, I was going go a place in congelton not far from me and pay £400, looking on the bay at r-tech, it says they come to your house for 265!! What a bargain. Well, from 265, does that depend on what stage remap you're having?
-
Spend £80 on cleaning stuff to get a tp finish on the paintwork :afro:

PM or email Nick as i reckon it could be a bit cheaper than that
few people like Bob have been mapped by R-Tech and are more than impressed
-
That sounds alright. That's well cheap, for an extra 50-70 BHP!! I'm going drop him a PM in a min. I think my plan of action is going to be...
Exhaust tomorrow, get that fitted, then get a re-map (mrs won't know about that cause it's invisible lol). And then get brakes and suspension the following weeks. Jobs a good un! The brakes don't seem that bad at all standard, I was quite impressed to be honest, my type-r that I just sold which was around 210BHP with sh!t brakes, you want try stopping in that lol!!
-
my type-r that I just sold
Ahhh another ricer that finally saw the light
-
My mate had his S3 chipped at AMD Tuning in Lakeside they did a good job.

Update!
Went down to Awesome-GTi on Saturday, picked up a Miltek twin pipe cat-back and 4motion rear valance, didn't get the high flow cat this weekend, thought I'd put that one on hold for now. It's got some grunt now, it sounds fookin mint it does.
Can't really say much for Awesome though, nice place, some mint motors knocking about. They only forgot to give me the fitting kit for the exhaust though, left me in a right pickle. Takes it up to a local garage, up on the ramp, mechanic cuts off old exhaust, tries to fit the Miltek, 'it's way too big mate'!.
I give Awesome a call, and the guy explains to me that he didn't give me the fitting kit. When I was there though, I heard one of the sales guys say to the bloke who was serving me something about the fitting kit, to which the bloke who was serving me replied, 'it's with the exhaust'. Not happy at all with that.
So after a bit of fabrication and a hiking bill the local garage got it sorted and I was on my way. Sounds sweet as...
Suspension and wheels next I think. The 16's really let it down IMO.
First time I've had any dealings with Awesome that was, probably the last too lol. I called them whilst the mechanic was fitting the zorst, the guy says to me 'Can you come to Manchester to pick it up', little did he know my car was in the air and had just had it's exhaust chopped off.
Never mind eh, live and learn...

Ah shame glad its sorted millteks sound great dont thay :afro:
What suspension and wheels are you getting?
-
It does sound ace, it's perfect. it's not overly loud, nice deep rumble and sounds mint when you plant your right foot lol.
The only wheels I've seen that I really really like are the mk4 R32 wheels. I've also seen some wheels that are like a deep dish type thing, hard to explain. I think they might be BBS, I'm not sure, I found a picture lol, which I'll post up, I doubt anyone'll be able see the wheels though lol.
I haven't given suspension a thought really, what coilovers does everyone normally go for? And, how easy are they fit?

How about these:

Ive got eibach shocks and springs. Depends how much you want to spend TBH Eibach coilovers are top notch :afro:
-
Not going to go for the R32 wheels now lol. I've been slowly falling in love with the euro'ish look. So I want some wheels that are like disks and polished and all shiny haha. I found a pic on the net, you can't see the wheels very well, and I'm sure the rears are different than the front? Have a look...

The back wheels look mint even though you can't see em properly lol. I've had a look around for some euro style wheels, but haven't really found much. Anyone know anywhere??
-
That's because the backs have a deeper dish. Common euro thing. They're probably 2 inches wider.
For euro wheels check out
Schmidt TH lines (i think)
BBS LM's
Both horrendously expensive.
Plenty of other options around if you look, try dubmesiter.co.uk and rimstyle.co.uk
-
That rimstyle sites mint! I have fallen in love with some wheels, but they only go up to 16"!!! :(:(

Anyone know of anything similar? I have no idea why I find these so sexy, a few weeks ago I wouldn't have given them a second look lol.
