Title: What do we think of these?....
Post by: RedRobin on 14 August 2008, 00:07
....Carbonfibre 'fog vents'.

Please try to ignore some of the other cosmetic mods on this car : -

I'm also thinking about waht T_T had to say about having open fog vents.

Hmm personally I prefer standard, but then I am pretty conservative when it comes to exterior mods...  I think the standard one gives coherency for the standard honeycomb grill

....I don't like them much either. Looks a bit OTT and as Illyun says: "I think the standard one gives coherency for the standard honeycomb grill".

And in todays breaking news...

Batman has allegedly had to sell his Batmobile for the VW Golf GTi pictured below. In order to save weight almost the entire car is covered in stylish carbon fibre bits with a sophisticated two tone effect paintwork.

The question on our lips is do we like it? Well of course we do. These days everyone likes a car with cobweb style headlights and no numberplates.

They look good Red :D

But I think they'd look better on a black car.

how can you say theyre chav.. ???

maybes your chavs down your way are up market, but i dont know any chavs with carbon fibre on their cars... they all drive broken chavaliers, old fiestas, novas... and spend all their money at halfords on ripseed.. the only chavs with carbon fibre i can think of is the sticky stuff from halfords.lol

I don't like them

Three reasons really:-

1. They stick out from the bodywork.
2. They encroach on part of the bodywork on the inner side, covering what is (for me) the best few curves of the front section.
3. They don't blend like the honeycomb OEM ones do with the grille.

....Same 3 reasons for me too. I didn't notice reason #2 until I posted the pics.

I like the look of the whole car, though would never do mine like that!

The CF fogvents suit the design of that particular car but would look  on any stock GTi unless they were smoothed in and flush with the bodywork and colourmatched to the rest of the car.

....Some folks in the U S of A have colour coded those CF fog vents but they look even more 'aftermarket' as a result. Each to their own though

Sorry mate, no offence intended

'Up my way' please, I'm from the frozen, wet north ..........

Chav in my book is tasteless and confused - that, IMHO, is what this mod is about

As for the dictionary definition, I defer to others:
