Hey RedRobin, looking at that MadDutchman photobucket site (the one with the DSG in bits), and found these:

Are those discs the same as your AP ones?

....I reckon the discs are the same, don't you?
As I understand it (from AP's Senior Race engineer who has been there over 30 years), AP Racing, formerly Lockheed, were bought by Brembo but AP Racing kept their identity and their autonomy as they are so well established as competition specialists. So I'm not surprised if they are exactly the same discs.
The inner vents are curved in the opposite direction to the straight grooves, as I'm sure you'll already know.
I'm naturally curious why you ask?

Could you Post a link TT to the "MadDutchman photobucket site " or send me a PM?

I just saw them on his site, and from memory thought they looked very similar to yours.
So it looks like the discs are the same, but the bells are different (and obviously the calipers differ too!).

TT, heres a question for you.
Once you have removed the caliper from a GTI, and the torx screw holding the disk on, how do you get it off? Does it need a slap from a rubber mallet or is there a special technique thats used?
-
yup, if it's stuck you have to use a mallet...

....I noticed that too. The word "vanity" came to mind. Cool pics of cogs though.

Yes and even more worryingly is that in most he appears to be a little lacking in the clothes department
