Nothing wrong with having a clean car.  I'd love to be able to have the time to give mine a good clean on a regular basis.  Only managing it once every 2/3 weeks at the moment due to work etc.

I do hate the American term 'detailing' though.  It's bloody cleaning!

No disrespect meant 08micsta.   ..I wish I could afford your services...I just jumped at the opportunity to bring yet another decent thread down to the usual level of lewd sexual inuendo and double entendres... :lipsrsealed: and get one in (ooooerr) before RR or TT did

I feel so mediocre these days....  All I do is post up pictures and rubbish.

When either TT or RR posts I make a cuppa and get comfortable.  :lipsrsealed:

My post was meant for Andrewparker though so no problem at all with you

BTW. Thanks blue for the tip with the sticky tape to remove dog hair. I used about 3 rolls this weekend. Bloody Huskies...

What's up, no room for personal opinion on this forum?

For the guys that make money doing it then cool, like I said, I appreciate the skill involved. For those that choose it as a hobby, watch out for the personal opinion here, then I say get a better hobby!

My opinion is that the R32 looks great and if the guy wants to spend so much time on his car, that is entirely his decision.

We do appreciate and value opinions of many sorts on here Andrew, although I would have said that your original one was more of a judgement (ie they don't have a life!) than an opinion and we don't judge unless people ask for one

Nothing better than detailing (sorry cleaning) your car during the weekend. I love my car to be clean and love to stand back and enjoy my hard work when it's done!

P.S. I also have a life

Fair enough, I'm not about to cry about the fact some guy I've never met has called me a knob. I'm not, as you put it, antagonised by it.

And Hurdy, depends how you read it mate, I would have said more tongue in cheek. Tone of voice isn't exactly something that translates online.

True. that is why I tend to use the smilies a lot when trying to put a point across in a certain way.

It no prob at all Blue.

Its not what you say but how you say it. Smileys are your friends.

Thats why sometimes I get upset with TT when he posts then realise that he is not meaning to cause offence.

Either way. I feel that people that look after their cars are usually successful. It shows they have respect for what they have worked for. Thats why most company cars look like

Mr Parker. I suggest you visit that website. There is a lot more to cleaning a car then you think and even if what people think of you does not bother you that gives you no reason to slate others for their hobbies or proffesion.

I love being 17 years old  :nerd:... So open minded

Firstly, I'd never get, nor do I think anyone should, get upset by a comment made by someone on a forum. The Internet by it's very nature acts as an open forum for people to discuss and express opinion. Getting mad at someone you don't even know is just not worth it.

Secondly, and I'll repeat it again ( ), I appreciate the skill and effort that goes into detailing (I hate that term too). I'm a Graphic Designer so you could say I understand aesthetic and visual perfection more than most. However, and this is where I seemingly came unstuck, I do not see the point in spending 8 hours cleaning a car, I'd prefer to spend 8 hours thrashing it  . But to say I slated people is a bit of an over-reaction. Read the original post, it says I also think... To me that sounds like an opinion, not a judgement, and it is definitely not slating anyone.

I jut went through that whole (linked) post and all I can say is that I am amazed!! I didnt know there was so much to cleaning a car... When I do make the rare effort to clean my car I like it to be done properly.. but I think that guy has gone slightly overboard! Each to their own I guess.

Cant knock his commitment to those touches.... some fantastic bit on there, and cant help think that he will in the end have one of the best examples of limited edition car there! Only one little problem...... a fooookin VAUXHALL????? What a waste!!!

My hobby is looking after my car, be it a couple of hours a night or all weekend. I'm not hurting anyone, not breaking any laws and I do it by choice. If that's not having a life, then why is it taking off and becoming a massive business with more and more manufactures/retailers joining in?  :smug:
Personal pride in your car and achieving a top shine is far better than going out binge drinking until oblivian and wasting all weekend feeling like crap. I suppose you'd call that "having a life" AndrewParker?

I value the advise I read on here, from people in particular that have posted on this thread, you could learn a lot from them mate.

Only its monday evening and I still feel like crap... Gonna go buy myself a bucket and sponge this weekend i think

At least you are honest bud!

I used to do all that, wake up in strange beds......not knowing how I got there, having to see the doctor with intimate itching...

Married now but still have my memories!

Oh and now I love cleaning my car, nothing wrong with that, its a lot safer!

Thankfully not had the itching! But I just seem to have some avoidable reason for getting shiiteefaced everyweekend, both friday and saturday night.. and then say I dont have time to clean my car :undecided:

tbh the main reason i dont clean it is that its usually pi$$ing it down!

Paid a mate to do it a few weeks back.. then noticed he was using furniture polish on my sills. not to mention turtle wax, when he clearly told me he uses the good stuff. Anyway when he was done it looked ok, it was only a few hours later that I noticed everything that has ever been airbourne was stuck to my paintwork!!

Lesson learnt... when you want something done properly, do it yourself!!

Not a game I play personally. Friends of mine play it, I supoose I may tag along one day for a giggle

Busy social life here, Karate 2 nights a week, shooting practice 1 night a week, overtime, keeping the car clean.... chores!

I did Karate for about 4 or 5 years. Almost got my brown belt but I lost interest. It was the same thing over and over...

I play golf. Except its on my bicycle. Mind you chasing Mini Coopers and being chased by minicoopers in a 5 story parking lot is a lot of fun. The golfs cant keep up

Gotta revolutionalise the sport.  :lipsrsealed:

I think my handle says it all.....

Used to play, was an 8 handicapper...then realised I was getting too old before my time. Besides I think the icing on the cake was taking my 3 year old daughter to the club and someone actually reported her because she had a denim romper suit on!!!  Apparently, denim is NOT allowed in the clubhouse!!!

I agree with dress codes in these places btw, but not on a toddler! Stuck up fascist twits at my old club....no wonder they are struggling for membership these days eh?

Chucked it, got a mini cooper S and started an unhealthy interest in fast cars.
