I have ...many times, but what you also have to consider is if I bought a car for £35k how much would I have spent on that extra. I've never been one for keeping a car standard and always mod my cars. Then again, I'm considering the GT-R as my next main car and then I can really get stuck into the ED30
-
Paid £7650 about 7 weeks ago (53 plate)
Spent about £50 on plates and plate holders
Planning to spend another £1500-1800 on 18" wheels, lowering and window tints
-
Paid £4,350 (1999 T Plate)
Spent about 1k so far!

going from your signature it looks like you mod for the sake of it rather than for a specific purpose. example carbon bonnet and subwoofer in the same motor - so no wonder you spent so much. the best thing in life are cheap. losing your interior would make more of a weight saving but then i guess you don't do track?

Bit of a Magpie unfortunately for me. Anything that grabs my fancy I have regardless of purpose, cost etc.
I love my music and yet love performance and styling. The two don't necessarily make good bedfellows
For example, my next possible purchase are some alloys - not essential, not better performing, but they show off the big brake upgrade better (see below). See what I mean - a magpie.

that's three different things  so you bought the brakes to look nice? each to their own - you clearly have too much free money. you could probably buy a whole car that would beat your mk5 on track for the price of your 10 pots.
as a side note, they rims are seriously wank - but redline mag gives them the thumbs up
-
bought mine 1 year ago and payed £3000 4 it.
spent around £1.800.
and another £2k to go.

No I didn't buy the brakes to "look nice", the bonus is that they do.
I doubt you could buy a car that would beat mine (or even yours?!?) for the price of my 10 pots - especially as you don't know how much I paid for them.
Regarding your incisive valued opinion on the wheels - ETTO

I'm guessing you must have paid at least £500 for calipers, pads and discs. If not, seriously more. 10 pots are ridiculous, you would probably be better off with r32 brakes for how much you would use them, and the reduction in unsprung weight.
The wheels were genuinely in redline though (which i bought for nurburgring section fyi), and had references to fast and furious films. If that's what you're going for then horses for courses.
To me it just looks like you lack focus in what you actually want.
EDIT - i was just thinking how much money £10,000 is. stuff me.

whilst an interesting discussion can we at least try to keep the thread on track
appreciate most threads don't but the question asked was what does you car owe you
