Title: radiator fan
Post by: gfc on 03 May 2004, 11:30
GTI 16v 1989

Anyone changed the motor for radiator fan? Mine's making a strange noise when coming on, almost as if its "dry" horrible loud scapping noise. I'm guessing its the motor and not the fan itself or is it a package are there more than one type of fan for 16v? Help would be appreciated.

"that sound is caused by the bearings! "

Is it worth replacing the whole lot, fan & motor or just the motor if its the bearings???

I had the same problem and sorted it in minutes by replacing the motor and fan.

Didnt cost a penny just helped my self from the scrappy.
