Title: Alarms

hey guys i'm looking into getting a car alarm sorted soon and after a search i've noticed that recommended makes are Cobra, Toad, Thatchams, and clifford. The majority also said the quality of the alarm is partly down to how well its fitted. I'm going to fit it myself though as i'm pretty sure i'd do a decent job :tongue:! So keeping in mind that i'm doing it myself what features would be good to look out for? I'm not bothered about remote central locking - boot popping - remote starting - bazooka firing lunacy, i just want an alarm that will put off if not stop the chavs taking a pop!

So what features should i look out for?

forget an alarm then - get an immobilser  :wink:

no one takes any notice of alarms sounding these days  :undecided:

however - ( certainly in my case - im sick i suppose ) people look at cars that wont start - thus making thieves not hang around. :huh:

Proximity sensors are good for scaring the crap out of people, and knowing when chavs are near your car rather than actually twitting it.

Bad for when it's raining, trees nearby, leaves falling down etc etc etc...  :undecided:

Deffinately get remote central locking, I could not be without it now, it's great for when it's pissing down and you want to get inside very quickly, or if you've got lots of shopping it's easier to press a button than muck about with keys.

I've got a clifford 600 (or 650 or something, I forget!) myself, it's pretty nifty.

I do, I go, 'Trev's in pain! I must go to his aid!', but I actually send my o/h outside cause he's bigger than me  :wink:

Also I do look out if I hear a different alarm going off too, and if I saw scalls attacking a neighbours car I would do something (send bf outside!).

someone was telling me that cliffords are low quality rubbish now. im not sure though, mine seems fine.
if you fit it yourself, get someone to validate the work to get an insurance certificate?
