A few weeks ago I bought myself a Golf GTI Mk5 and I must say without seeing it before buying it, I'm rather happy with it :)
Reason for buying it was I had that many hassles with my 53 plate GT TDI 130 I wasnt happy with it anyways, so I decided to go for this :)
Whilst its not as fast as my Rover 220 Turbo Coupe or my Subaru Impreza Type R I had, its comfy, cheap enough to run and is lovely to drive :)
I've a few niggles with the GTI as I feel its not as smooth as it should be and sometimes feels rather hasitant as well, especially at low revs and not to mention the brakes dont feel as strong or a solid as they should be for the type of the car.. Might have to do something with them when I can actually afford it!!
Anyways, I've been browsing the forum for a few weeks, but just thought I'd finally join up and say hi :)
Look forward to spending a long few hours online here :)

Hi and welcome to the mad house Phil
Yep your right about the brakes they could be better, about the smoothness you may have some small prob there put a post up on the MK5 section and you will get plenty of help.

Well since having AP Racing brakes on the Scoob front and rear, you tend to get used to having decent brakes!! Not cheap but definitely worth the cash ;)
I aint sure whats wrong with it, but it does feel rather lumpy on startup and on idle, cold or at running temp, so not sure what's up there. Had a misfire on cyclinder 1 the other day, but that was down to a cracked Coil pack, so that was replaced out in the warrenty I've been given :)
Its going in this week for an MOT so I'm gonna get them to check it over and hopefully get it sorted, as I'm not happy with its running... Need it on some rollers really ;)
Thanks for the warm welcome :)
