Title: 1.8T - cambelt Q
Post by: TonyC on 10 August 2008, 16:52
Looking at buying a low miles 1.8T. It's done 52k and on a 2001/51. Had VW services to 37k (last one in 2006) and has been serviced by family ex VW motor mechanic. Oil was quite fresh, halfords filter (!) The car was immaculate and engine pulled hard (also got winter pack, unmarked late alloys, climate, recaros, unused spare, all the stickers)

I understand the cambelt is due at 60k - is there a time period (ie which ever is sooner, type of thing) eg 5 years that it should have been done by?

(Priced at 4800ono)

Thanks,
TC

i would get it done TBH for the price of what it costs, and the consquences if it breaks.

hello,
Would advise cambelt and water pump is changed, you would be looking at around £260 - £450 depending on where you take it to be done, eg dealer or good specialist.
Sounds nice car at a good price.
Regards,
Jochen.
