Its a no brainer, the 3 door looks so much better than the 5 and that is a fact, there is no debating it. However the 5 is more practical.

3 door wins for mr hands down.

5dr is more practical for living with long term, but 3 dr is more aesthetically pleasing.

5dr edges it for me

i have a 5 door, wouldnt swop it for a 3 door, its to practical. couldnt deal with getting in and out to let people in/out all the time.

Had a 5 door mk4 and when it came to :cough: upgrading to a mk5 even thought the three door looks much better I couldn't loose that practicality.  Moved house and all sorts of crap in the mk4 and wouldn't have been able to do that with a 3dr.  Couldn't be assed with getting in and out to let passengers in / out either.  5dr for me......

shouldn't even be thinking of 5 doors  :lipsrsealed:

3 doors looks better. But for normal people with mates and has to cart sh!t around alot then its 5door. So 5 ftw

I'v only ever had 3 doors and cart mates and gear (music related) around. And I mean lots of gear. the mk4 boot swallows quite alot!

5 doors look weird on med. size hatchbacks!

3 doors look llllllllluuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrrvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrllllllllyyyyyyyyyy!!!

5 doors are also heavier & the chassis flex's more!!

However those of us with 5 doors can actually get out of our cars in tight parking spaces :)

how does having 5 doors help!? Easy to remove yourself from the rear of a 3 door Golf.

Plus the seats jump up and move forward that most people don't realise!

I've had no problems! Besides leaving your car in tight spots is askinbg for scratches and dents.

ahh but you said get out ;) so you won't need to get out if someone parks close to you when you're away from the car.

but its relevant - i.e. 5 doors have smaller doors then the 3 door meaning you can squeeze into smaller gaps and still get in and out of the car without fear of damaging your door

ah sorry kind of mis-read your post

what looks will you have if you got nowt but damaged doors from getting in and out of your car

also with 5 doors you don't have to get out to let someone out from the back - particularly useful in the great summer time weather we're experiencing

don't take anyone in the back or just kick the passenger in the front out.
