Title: Illuminated Needles
Post by: ub7rm on 09 August 2008, 16:14
Do my eyes deceive me or are the instrument needles illuminated whether the lights are on or not?  I could have sworn they went darker when I turned the ignition off even thought the blue lighting on the dials wasn't on?

....Yes, the needles stay on - Cool feature imo cos it still allows you to have some idea of what your revs are etc. I wondered at first if they were just reflectively luminous but I reckon they are programmed to stay illuminated while the ignition is on (rather like my LED Daylight Running Lights).

As RR says, the needles are illuminated - and a really clever trick, if you have the light and rain sensor, is the brightness of the needles will automatically dim as the ambient light lowers - to remind you to turn on your headlamps.  :smug:

On Audis, you can independently modify the brightness of the needles and the brightness of the actual dash panel lighting!  :nerd:

....You can change the brightness on the GTI too (I think!).

....Ah, just the dash panel perhaps - Hence the "I think".

Its only on Audis where you can change the brightness of the needles separately.  On the Golf, they only work in unison with the dash lights (obviously when the lights are actually switched on).

Something iv also realised! In the GTI the needles were always lit up in Red where as on the R32 they only turn Blue once the lights go on!

I thought the bat cave was suppose to be hidden away. Surely planning permission is not required.

New Golf you dont need planning  for a large shed

The planning dept use high definition aerial photos to check building matters here mate, and they can measure the size of your shed/garage etc in great detail. You get taken to court, have to remove the offending structure if you dont have the correct permission, and a £2000 fine. Not good.

14 week wait from sending the plans in, to getting a reply. Absolutely farkin ridiculous.  Almost there now, base dug out, planning permission almost sorted, ready to build a Batcave. Pics posted of the build once it gets underway.
