Second car down obviously.
Why so cheap do you think? Unregistered, with 0 miles and has a fairly good spec? Would it be an import possibly?
Obviously I will ring the dealer but initial thoughts??
-
I would say not a bad spec for the price.
Definatley an import though, leather with red stitching and electric seats, both thinks not available in UK.

as above, import, and price is about what they get for them as imports, although at motorpoint you can get ed30's for same price

Thanks guys. I think I will steer clear. Motorpoint ones are all manual as well and I NEED DSG!
-
Been on pistonheads for a while - knock them down a bit, could get yourself a bargain import or not.
-
Man, I am wondering why electric seats were not an option in the UK. I ould have loved to have that on my car. Also the red stitching looks amazing!

The stitching does look rather nice doesn't it!
Are imports covered by VW Manufacturers Warranty? What is the upshot of owning an import, is there anything to be aware of. If not I assume the only thing detrimental would be lower residual value/harder to sell??

Forget that, I used the Search button like i'm supposed to and there's a wealth of info.

why didn't UK cars getting the red stitching?

Was just thinking the same!!! Adds a bit of character and makes the GTI leather interior different to any other Golf with leather. UK get shafted as usual. I also like the look of those electric seats
-
I've got red stitching :smug:
-
You've got red EVERYTHING :D
-
mines an import - electric seats are fun
downside is only 2 years warranty as opposed to 3 years for UK cars - resale is slightly less but if i keep it for long enough then it will hardly be noticable.
-
I dont see the problem with imports as long as they are all legit. Resale is less yes, but then you paid less for it in the first place so . . .

Hmmmm - I suggest you phone Trading Standards, because clearly the advert is misleading to the point of being illegal.
A number of concerns: the ad states "0 miles" - this is absolute BS, because ALL cars manage to gain anything upto 10 miles whilst being driven off the production line to the pound, onto the transporter, off the transporter to the ferry terminal, onto the ferry - etc, etc. Secondly, I strongly doubt "new VW list price £29000" is correct.

They seem a bit shadey to be honest anyway. Someones even gone to the trouble of setting up a webpage to discredit them!!!:

All cars have delivery miles on like you say.
Perhaps this GTI for sale was made by them in their workshop, hence 0 miles!!

Didnt know the gti came with LSD  :lipsrsealed:
-
no one has noticed the screen price in the picture clearly says "£24500"

Ha Ha I did spot that, thats another reason why I thought it was dodge!

You've got red EVERYTHING :D
A little unfair Alan, there's LOADS of Black left
Back on topic, a lucky escape then! They do look well dodgy even though I like the spec of the car and it would certainly be pretty unique around these parts
-
Do UK cars definitely not get electric seats?
The dodgy one i recently boughtfrom Listers had electric drivers seat and dealers HPI check didn't highlight it was an import.
Anyway to check anywhere whether it was an import?
-
my mates gti has electric seats and he bought his from vw in leicester. In fact the passanger seat failed recently and he had a new seat under warranty
-
I would avoid this lot, too many questions, and the anti- testimonial from the guy on the web speaks volumes.
There are loads of good quality GTI's/R32's out there just now, take your time and find the spec of your choice. Buyers (especially those with no trade in) probably have never been in such a strong position.
-
Crisis/Winrya dont confuse electric seats with electric lumber adjustment. I think all GTI's with leather and the ED30 get electric lumber adjustment (maybe cloth get electric lumber adjustment as well, Im just not 100% sure).

This car has been for sale up the road from my brother in law since before I got my Ed 30 in May.... They had it up for £24500 for ages - I kept laughing as I paid 2K less than that for the Ed 30. Oddly they haven't sold it.
The car looks totally new but has to be an import. The 'dealer' hasn't been there too long .... probably no more than 6 months  The car looks totally out of place there .....

I've spotted something suspicious about this car. For an '08' model year the stereo should definitely have the silver buttons, as was standard from 07 model year. if you look really carefully, the radio has black buttons, like the first GTI's had, upto 06 model year.
could this be old stock, then imported, with some ED30 seats slapped in, hence the low price? :nerd:

there not edition 30 seats though :nerd:, ps think the black buttons went as far as 07 too, and the car may have only just been registered after being sat about

my car is 07 model year and so is my sisters, both have silver button radios!
ok well if they arent ED30 seats, what are they I wonder?

If anyone is nearby it, check the 10th digit of the VIN, and that will give the model year. Or e-mail the company, asking for it for an HPI check or sommat.

Nope - all Wolfsburg built Golf Vs, even the poverty spec models, had silver knobs from July 06 build date as part of the 2007 model year spec. :nerd:

The seats in the GTI I had are electrically operated seats, not just lumbar supports. Does that then mean it was more than likely a parallel import?
The Experian Check that they provided me with did not identify it as an import, but if it was first registered in UK, then i assume that this would be the case.
Also the Service manual was missing, therefore no way of checking on the PID (PDI?) stamp.
