Had an emergency day off yesterday to sort my car out after it got waterlogged due to the freak weather on Wednesday night.
Got the car low loaded to my mates V dub yard where we proceeded to do a compression test, the result no compression in the 2nd chamber. Stripped her down took the head off to find that I had water in all of my bores. All my pistons are level but I think when we strip down the bottom end im going to have bent conrods - oh well she was good while she lasted. If that is the case and I need a new block then im not going to bother and people can start calling dibs on any bits on the car they want.
-
WHAT!
Come on after all that effort a new block is hardly a challange to you!
Nick
-
no way m8 gutted 4 u
dont let that put u off all that hard work sure u could get her up and running again if u needed a new block.
-
Don't be a tart. Get some scat rods then you can stick a gt28rs on and break the 400bhp barrier.
-
To be honest if I sort it out il get an AGU or ARZ bottom end and just have the KO4, dont want to be spending much more on the car to be honest, just want to tidy it up.
Such a f**king pain in the ass though - back on the buses again, such a piss take

Gutted for you mate! It would be a shame not to restore it to its former glory after all the hard work you've put in!
The rain was bad on Wednesday though. I was driving through it for seven hours solid on my way back from Scotland - not a pleasant experience!

just sort the engine out, tidy the bits up that you want and enjoy it for a few months mate! then see how you feel!
-
sorry to hear that mate!
as everyone else has already said, i'd say it would be a waste to stop now, as you've spent so much time and money on her already.
-
Ash, I know the feeling if not wanting to keep throwing money at it, but you have come sooo far. I remeber when I first joined this forum with my MK4 you had just started out, its an amazing story what you have done with the 1.4. Dont give up mate.
-
couldnt you turn the engine over with a socket and bar on the crankshaft pully see if the conrods are bent cos if it doesnt turn you know, but if it does saves you stripping bottom end down
-
I just thought of that and I did do it yesterday to get it back to Top Dead Centre so that means rods cant be bent, will still need to check it out though
-
i can imagien this turning into one of those Facebook groups 'Ash shouldnt give up on his Dub' well this thread is i guess

i suppose it wont take long to take the sump off and check, should be ok as cant be hydrolocked if it's turning over
