Hi,
Greetings from New Zealand!
I am looking at a 2002 GTX Golf as my wife won't give me her GTI so I have to get my own!
Today I viewed a 2002 GTX 1.8T. An immaculate car with 85K. It has been imported from Japan and as such has a "VW Multimedia" FM Radio/Sat Nav/CD. If I can, I'll try and post an image of the unit.
Can anyone offer advice as to whether these units can have the software updated to allow the sat nav to function in New Zealand, and also replace the Japanese text on the LCD with english?
Here's the URL to the dealer. You will see the head unit in one of the photos.

I guess water pump impellor and cam belt are also due given the year/kms?
Thanks in advance for any advice given.
Cheers
Darryn

and yes i'd get the cambelt and water pump done ASAP for peace of mind if its not shown in the service history

i wouldn't be surprised if it was an aftermarket double dim unit.
i didn't know you could get a 1.8T with an auto box either

Our current GTI is a manual but a significant number of Golfs (all variants) are auto / tiptronic.
The radio head unit has a VW logo - "VW Multimedia" if my memory serves me correctly.
Thanks for your thoughts,
Darryn
