Know there has been a lot of talk about the new VAG T FSI engines, or whatever they are calling them, however I noticed on Auto Express news LINK (http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/225966/a4_and_a5_power_up.html) that the new 2.0 T FSI enging is going into the A4 and A5.
208 Bhp
42 mpg
154 g/km of CO2.
Impressive stuff with the MPG and CO2.
I wonder if this is the same engine that will be going into the MkVI GTI?
-
no it wont, the 1.8TSI is going in it. also stated in auto express this week.
-
thought autocar was saying 211 bhp gti and then a 4 wheel drive 265bhp 4 cylinder to follow?
or was it a tough day in the office today?
-
What makes you think it is the 1.8?
I realise that the 1.8T has been fitted in newer Audis, however I would have thought that if a 2.0L with better omissions and MPG is available that would have been used.
I've read a bit about the new Golf, especially since the pics were first leaked and they mentioned a number of engines including a new twin-turbo 2.0 TDI engine with 204bhp in Autocar.

Sorry Phil see yoa amended your post when I was Typing.
Suppose at present all rumors.

....I would take anything AutoExpress say with a pinch of salt at this stage. If you are referring to the Mk6 GTI getting that 1.8TSI engine, I think it's unlikely but who knows?

Having worked in the motor industry......please please please please please please take no notice of any car magazine until the motor manufacturer themselves have released a press statement regarding the particular vehicle. The magazines make up A LOT of things just to get a prospective reader involved. The stuff they used to say about BMW whilst I worked there was just completely untrue and was never planned to go into production.

The very reason I cancelled my subs to Auto Express as it was far to sensationalist and guessed at the looks and spec of cars far off production, and as such I feel it deserves it's red top!!!

Auto Express is a joke with the mock-ups it uses on the FRONT COVER! FFS!

I don't mind it - but then I take it to be a bit like reading The Sun ..... a quick read and not necessarily accurate

Exactly my point, which is why it deserves it's 'red top' status

Yeah AutoExpress is one of the worst, but all magazines do it to an extent, very annoying sometimes!!

....Referring to a story in The Sun about his lovely wife Pam(ela Stephenson, milf), said in Billy Connolly accent: "I read it in the newspaper, so it must be true!"

....'4WD' (probably R32 haldex style) 265bhp 4-pot turbo sounds much more interesting a couple of years from now.

Its on my Christmas list already

Sounds like VW are trying to combat the new Focus RS ? ? ? ?
-
If it does 42mpg in the real world, I'll eat my hat.
-
it wont do 40mpg using a 2.0 litre. thats why i think the 1.8 TSi is more likely if they want it to be more kinder in the pocket.
