Title: Quick question regarding DV position

hey guys, i saw on another website this guy had his dv on the opposite way round (as in the part that normally goes into the larger pipe is in the smaller pipe and vice versa, so its kinda flipped 90 degrees and on its side) not a great decription but im sure you know what im getting at....ha

the question is, will this affect the enine/dv?

oh, the guy had it on this way as it was louder apparently....

Yeah you can fit it this way around- on a forge 007p it will make a high pitch noise but forge dont recommend doing it.

Stick with the correct way around  :wink:

I spoke to forge and they explained that having in reverse should actually work better , they explaind why but it just went over my head  :undecided: however i tried it in reverse and i got a very loud pinging noise instead of thssssh sound. after speaking to forge again they told me to turn it around again and this stopped it.

how funny, thats like saying "you can drive in reverse all the time, but i wouldnt as it will f**k your car". How about just saying "its built to work this way so use it this way" take all the confusion out.... :rolleyes:

I have tested with them fiitted the other way around and I did NOT work any better, infact the power was down. upto 3psi of boost was lost on 2 AUMs and 1 AGU,  plus there was an ARZ which was 7psi down comapared to the other way.
The problem is the boost pressure pushing up on the based of the DV piston, and the pressure that is comming in from the top cannot keep the piston locked down 100% so the piston opens up a fraction and bleeds the boost off, same with the Split-r valve.   
This is not down to the Forge valve they work 100% the correct way, The problem is down to slight pressure variations in the pipe system.
  Even a small pin hole in the smaller vacume / boost pipes will allow the DV to open right up  when the pressure is pushing on the spring..

Fitting the DV the "correct" way puts the positive pressue on the side of the piston and does not put any pressure in the base of the piston or the spring.

I am not the best person to put my thoughts in to words, so I hope you can understand where I am comming from with this one?.

Glad to here the car is running ok but if you do ever get issues I am always on here now to help as much as I can?.

If your after a better sound from the DV, then IMO fitting a Cold air induction kit  with alloy, steel or carbon filter relocation pipe makes the best blow off sound ever,
The pipe will amplify the DV sound without being too much in your face where people look at you gone out when you lift of the gas. (non granny shocking)

Get a 007p or simlar and a good Cold air induction kit with the solid relocation pipe. The will make a nice blow off  / air dumping sound when lifting of even on a standard car.  But once remapped it will sound awesome.  You can get a Alloy 100% re-circ DV and CA induction kit for less than £85.
