sorry the pics are abit big just looking to see what you guys/gals think cheers
-
looks good, those audi wheels suit it :)
the orange indicators need to go!
-
;D i know starting new job i hope so will have more money to play with her
-
are they 17s? and
what profile are those tires? (40?)
hows the ride? :D
(sorry couldnt think up the other 17 questions to make 20 :P)
-
V nice alloys! Not sure if I'm 100% up for the Audi logo, but wheels are V good. Not a huge fan of DTM, but you'll just about get away with it if the rest of the car is kept pretty stock.
I'm guessing 17's (40 profile), but dropped about 30mm... I'm keen on getting mine down a bit... similar or slightly less, maybe only 20-30mm (if that's 30-40mm)...
What is the ride like?
What shox / springs u got on there?
Agree, indicators need to go... any tips for UKVR6 (or myself) on what to go for? smoked/orange, but what make??
BTW - I like the colour too (LOL)...

Are those standard VR6 arches and bumpers or add-ons?
Either way, how much for me to get a set of 'em??
Obviously also in Dusty Mauve....
-
Looks sweet. :P
Surely those Audi wheels only come in 18's (assuming they're original Audis) but the standard 40% profile would make em too big for a mk3. Are they super low profile tyres?
Audi wheels are the way forward. 8) ;)
-
they are 40 profile 99.9% sure they catch now and again on the back as its only got springs and every thing els standard , the wheels are originall audi in 17'ns i know the TT wheels only come in 18'ns think mine might be off a new A4 not to sure the ride is nice as long as your on a smooth road but if bumpey you can feel every thing pretty much, you get used to it and just adjust your driveing to the roads and watch out of any nasty pot holes , the bumpers have been smoothed off on the top front and rear and the arches have just been colour coded thats all , the dtm in my opinion suits the car i will be takeing it offfor a full straight thru decat stainless steal one not to far in the future im glad you like it ;D ;D ;D
-
Aaah! Of course 40%ers on 17" rims are fine for Mk3. Didn't realise that design came in 17". Surprised you get any rubbing at all really.
Looks bloody cool anyway. 8)

Sorry, not my cup of tea at all. DTM's look naff whatever you put them on - even an M3 (or should that be especially?) would look horrendous with one bolted on the back. Doesn't water get into them when it rains aswell? And as for the Audi wheels, well thel look great on an Audi, yes, but look horribly aftermarket on a Golf. I actually prefer the original multi-spoke BBS efforts, even if they do look too small. I do however like Lostbok's rims. I reckon those in Tungsten would look the DB's on my 8v. Add a subtle twin chrome pipe exhause and I reckon it's all the styling mods the Mk3 needs.
-
the way i look at it ive only had the car for 3 weeks i havent made my mark on her as of yet i think the wheels look the nutson her realy surprises people to see audi wheels on a golf thats the hole idea to be that little bit diffrent i could allways join the corsa clio club and go get a credit card and spend a couple of grand in halfords imagine what it would look like then lol neons the works pmsl for a car as i have just brought it looks smart in my opinion each to there own aint it
-
Ta Bodhi - those are the rims that came with the car, were put on by a previous owner, but I had to get new rubber 'cos he'd REALLY scrimped on that! They're pretty sweet, but sadly nothing special (DJ "racing" Alloys)... not bad for the time being though. Juzt need to clean the brakes up a bit more behind them - EDB grooved / dimpled discs look schweet, but the calipers are pretty grubby and not looking too hot....

Is the twin-pipe Milltek Jet not your idea of a "subtle" twin pipe exhaust... or was it just SO subtle you didn't notice it ;D
(http://img48.photobucket.com/albums/v148/LostBok/Car-400x300/Img_3165.jpg)
I'd recommend the Milltek "Stealth" - much more subtle oval pipe, but sadly not availble when I got mine done.
UKVR6 - how much did you drop the car that it's catching/rubbing?!?! Also, where did you get the dusty mauve colour-coded bumpers and arches and how difficult were they to fit?
Everyone - smoked indicator recommendations?
Yes, DTM's aren't the most tasteful or subtle mod and no I personally wouldn't go near them, but I think that car just about gets away with it. Audi wheels are a great shape and look, not sure if I'd try to get the wheels debadged though: not a fan of debadging at all, unless it's another manufacturer's badge on my VW :o Happy with my dodgy "DJ's" for now...
G'nite all!

LOST BOK .. the arches where just colour coded andthe bumpers smoothed and colour coded so get some of a gti or vr6 as with the dtm debate i didnt fit it if i was buying one i wouldnt get a dtm they have been done to death and are showing there age but it does suit the car in the flesh as for the lowering hight it has all ready been done when i got the car so im not to sure id say 40 or 60 m it only chatches now and again on the rears over a large bump when some one is in the back and i was wrong the tyres are 45 profile so thats why they catch
-
That's okay, I'm not planning on dropping mine that much - 25mm probably (also have 17" with 40 profile), although I was thinking about 45 profiles for a softer ride, so that's good to hear that 25mm would probably still be okay.
How / where do you get the bumpers and arches colour coded?
I've got a pretty sweet Milltek Jet twin pipe, non-DTM exhaust and it fits the existing body kit fine, so I'm fine with that.
How do those bumpers & arches look close-up?
Laters!
-
you can get your arches colour coded at any good spay shop just make sure they are the right colour 25mill will be fine mine has had the iner arches hacked away so i got to take the arches off and do them properley and rust proof them ill get a pic of the bumpers up close for you it has started to crack on the front for some reason more than likley bumped stuff in car parks etc etc the rear is fine not a problem its one of them mods thats very subtle and you can hardley notice it

if you look at the front bumper you can see the little line in it im going to have it redone again but the back isfine andyou can see how low it is and how close it is to the tyres very rare it catches and rides like a little go cart love it ;D ;D ;D
-
i think the vr looks nice, the dtm suits the car but i wouldnt have chosen them myself. as for the rims, u can get exactlty the same rimz with the VW logo on them. the car looks like it sits nicely over the wheels tho. im gettin 18's with a 35 profile also have 2 modify the arches a little before i put the drop on the car so hopefully they wont catch.
is that a highline? if so whats the condition of the leathers.
-
yea my arches have been done but a rough job well do proprley 18'ns i doubt they would go on with mine as low as it is , i dont want vw logo's in the wheels , and no not a high line wish i had leather but never mind will look into a retrim once i have the engine power sorted
-
How much did you pay for arches and bumpers to be done? Yours look like they've been rounded off, not just color coded (look at the back bumper pic of mine and yours). V nice rounded look on yours - V sweet!
Any recommended places in / around London (SW London in particular)?
Ta!

I'm with you. I like the audi logo 8)

Hehehe very subtle, I didn't notice it til you pointed it out :) How much did that set you back. I'm definitely more of a fan of the twin pipe action - think they look classier on a Mk3 than the oval pipe. An exhaust like that, rims like that in tungsten a K&N and a remap and i reckon i'll have my personal perfect 8v. Shame I don't have the 2 grand + to do it. Just coming up to university graduation is a bugger of a time to be thinking about car mods :)
-
?2000?? ?200-?300 odd for the exhaust, ?100-?180 for the induction and ?380 for the wheels... I'm nowhere near a grand yet.... even if you get it all done professionally.
I finished uni in 2000/2001 (full time / retakes ::))... bought an old banger two years ago, got two year no claims and now I just bought a nice '98 Golf cabby and tweaking it around nicely.
Milltek "Jet" cat-back was ?320 inc VAT & fitting at AmD... I had the car in there for a few bits and pieces: engine remap, brakes, strut brace and induction (Pipercross, they wouldn't do me a K&N57i or even a PiperX Viper >:()
Brakes were about ?230 for the front (pads and discs) and ?230 for the rear (pads, discs and bearings).
Add that to the new stereo and new rubber all-round and we're talking about two grand on the car straight after I bought it :o
BTW - the that Milltek pipe fits perfectly under the existing body kit, so no need to change the rear skirt... sounds v nice, but does drone a bit when you accelerate on motorways and fairly constantly over 80mph... take the roof off and you have to be going a bit quicker before you really notice it.... although overtaking in tunnels, especially with the roof down can be pretty impressive sounding!! The first comment I normally get is "I didn't know they put the 2.8 in the cabby's"... although to be fair if you know what you're listening for it's nothing like the proper purr of the VR6!
