Post by: Kingt_mk2 on 05 August 2008, 10:47

no real benefit to this, its still k-jet at the end of the day.  as for running the 16v on digifant your best bet is the Vortex forums, they love doing that over there.

The difference would be that the Scirocco K-jet, running on a vacuum advance dizzi has a more aggressive advance curve, which might give it a bit more power, but without a knock sensor you're more likely to murder the engine through detonation.

interesting!  you could actully get a knock control box on certain models, quite common in the US.  I remember reading a little how2 guide on it on some random homepage somewhere.
If it was me though I'd leave it alone and get a complete ABF & wiring loom, much more worthwhile :)

wot does the abf consist of then?? (sorry for sounding like a newbie :P)

the ABF is the MK3 2.0 16v lump, runs a later version of the digifant fuel injection system and is a very nice engine.  However the wiring for it would present you with some issues as your fusebox is different to the MK3 unit, though it depends how handy you are with a soldering iron :)
Only other issue is that the ABF requires a lambda sensor, which you wont have anywhere to fit on your kr zaust system.  It shouldnt cost too much to have a lambda boss welded onto the exhaust once you figure out where you want it though, and the abf will run without it so you could get it all in then take it somewhere to have the boss fitted.  If you want a bolt on option you could try to get hold of a G60 downpipe and CAT bypass, it will fit a 16v manifold and the rest of your 16v zaust system :)

Only problem is you'll probably have to drop the subframe to get the old downpipe out, unless it will come out from underneath when the manifold is removed?

you have to undo the sterring rack and slighty move it forward to get the down pipe out (had to replace one on a friends mk2)

so would i have to get the whole abf engine or can you put the abf onto the kr??

Buy my passat for £500 and have a 2.0 16v K jet car. Just pop your cams in in for arounf £150bhp!

you can run the abf off k-kjet if you like but apparently if you do that you 'should be shot'
this is what I am planning to do on my ABF, and for you doing this would certainly be much easier!
