Found this link on e-bay, looking for some advice on the possibility of fitting the chip personally, I fitted a chip on my Fiat Coupe that was not to difficult, but like anything you never really know. Has anyone done a self fit and what are the possibilitys of it going wrong etc. (obviously I am trying to save money ) Cheers in advance

The chip in question would be a PSOP44 surface mount type. To remove the old chip you need to use a hot-air rework station, if you try to remove with soldering iron you will pull and the pads away from the PCB. The main problem with these chips is knowing what your getting. For 1.8T engine there are well over 1000 hardware and software combinations. You wont know for sure what the software version is, the only was to tell is the read the full flash from the ori chip using OBD remapping tool or read the chip direct in a programmer. wrong flash file will = a no running car, or ECU ROM error.
IMO too much guess work and too many risks.
But with the correct tools the right skills, and the matched SW and HW file with the right checksumm then you might be fine.
below is what they will send you...
