Ok so I'm having a batcave built for the GTI, I've dug the foundations out by hand, had the plans done and finally got planning permission. I've made the internal measurement 4m wide, and the length 5.5m long. Do you all think this is big enough for me to be able to polish and work on the GTI easily without being cramped, before the building work gets underway?
Appreciate your thoughts.
When I get my camera/laptop working property I'll post pics as it progresses. I'm also thinking of starting up a little on the side detailing business for friends/family to earn extra cash, as I get asked a lot at work and on weekends when cleaning the GTI on the driveway.
It would be great to see some pic's of your batcaves showing your setup :nerd:

as long as you can comfortably work around it and have enuff room for a workbench at the back for ur tools and that it shuld be fine! mine is not huge but its comfortable enuff to work around and cosy enuff in the winter months to heat up (much to the missus' disapproval!). mine is about 6mtr x 5mtr x 8ft high (guesstimated) and that is ample room!

Sounds good Cookiemonster, a little bigger than mine but it sounds comfy enough. 8ft high here as well, going to paint the walls white with exterior paint, epoxy the floor and fit some old kitchen cupboards up to store my detailing stuff. Essential is a small beer fridge, for a few small beers and the Zymol Carbon!
Wife thinks I'm nuts putting it in the fridge!

You know im normally having a laugh with you, but is that honestly big enough for all your product's and your car

Well its my hobby now so......!
PLUS...if you work out the GTI is only 2010mm wide and 4204mm long, that leaves me a fair bit of space.....
Oh and the SHED!

A standard UK parking space is 2.4m x 4.8m but 2.5 x 5 is recommended where possible.
Your dimensions are basically a wide, slightly short single garage. Single garages are usually around 3 x 6 with doubles at 5.5 to 6 x 6.
I have recently come across a client that is having a large double though to accomodate his Range Rover and Rolls Phantom. It's sort of L shape, with 10.9m across the front and 8.9m front to back on the left bay and 6.2m front to back on the right bay.
There will be plenty of space in yours for 1 car though.

Thanks Wellsy, looks like its going to be big enough for me, the GTI and a few brewskis!

Go as big as the plot and planning permission will allow :) that way you won't swear when you scrape against the wall when your doing something, or scratch the car moving something past :)

Me too, I have a BatDrive!!
Just before I purchased my MK2 the missus converted 3 1/4's of our garage into a loo and Utility  Like the sound of yours though NewGolf and I'd echo what others have said in that you can never have enough space!! Have it as big as planning will let you
