Im after getting my Edition 30 trackered, Anyone got theres done? How much does it cost if you dont mind me asking?
Someone broke into our house last night and im pretty certain they were after my car, they got the keys to a 07 Passat and a 02 206 but they couldnt start the Passat and by that time the Police were on the way and they ran off empty handed.
And finally R32 or Edition 30?
Was speaking to a VW Mechanic and he said a GTI anyday over the R32...Not driven a R32 myself so I couldnt really say which drives better.

Try the search function... Im getting good at typing this now.
The .:R32 and GTi are different cars for different personalities. Yes. Remap an Edition 30 and the .:R will worry. Please dont start a .:R32 vs GTi thread. We have at least 7 of them already.
Cost is different for different tracks. Try run a search for all the track days there are on this forum.
Always keep your keys in the safe. Its the best bet by far.
I would take the GTi over the .:R anyday. And if you want the .:R look then simply change the skirts and bumpers and get a .:R exhaust.

You can get a .:R for less than an ed30 at the moment! Need I say more

When he mentioned getting the car trackered i think he mean't if stolen its location can be traced by the police. Unless Edition 30 is chinese My apoligies for the cheap joke 08 mistica

lol I was just about to say the same thing Top Cat :D
As for the tracking, your best bet would be to go on Google and see what you can find.
I found this in 15 seconds : http://www.carfi.co.uk/html/security_tracking.html
Prices start from £299

Um...
Am I the only one not getting the joke?
Apologies to the OP with regards to tracking and "trackering".

For serious car tracking, use only the pukka item from www.Tracker.co.uk. Only Tracker have direct fitments in Police and Customs equipment. All the other makes rely on private security firms to recover the car, and they have no powers of arrest like the real plod,

Would you really want your car back after its been sha66ed by some dirty little theif???

This has been discussed many times before on this very forum.
However, as a recap, there are loads of advantages of having a tracking device fitted, against just one disadvantage.
Firstly, the disadvantage, which you rightly point out above - if it had been abused by a scrote, then no, I wouldnt want to keep the car. However, the days of the general opportunist thief are long gone. Most modern cars which are stolen these days are either (a) stolen to do a bank job, which means the car will probably get trashed anyway, or (b) stolen "to order" by professional gangs of thieves for the purposes of selling them on, and so these will not get trashed!
Now for the advantages:
- Cheaper insurance (indeed, many insurance cos make it mandatory for certain high performance cars)
- The Police will catch the crims red handed, and they'll get locked up
- You wont lose your no claims bonus
- You wont have a "total loss" claims history, which will massively bump up subsequent renewal premiums
- You wont get any future revisits from the crims in 6weeks time to collect your new car too
- If your recovered car is damaged in any way, it is considerably cheaper for the insurance to repair it rather than pay for a write off claim
- If you are uneasy about keeping your stollen recovered car, then YOU can sell it in your own time, at your own price, rather than relying on an undervalued insurance settlement (and you wont have to drive around in a Nissan Micra courtessy car either!)
I'm sure there are a few other advantages, but AFAIC, getting a Tracker fitted is an absolute no-brainer!

....Only you can decide that. You need a decent test drive in each and preferably back-to-back on the same route - That's what I did.
I found the V6 awesome and traction excellent but it encouraged me to driver faster into licence losing territory. I found the GTI (my modded one is a tad quicker than a stock Ed30) much more nimble and felt lighter to drive.
