I love the sound the car makes when I plant my right foot when the window is open. The whoosh from the engine is so sexy!
The cars also a lovely relaxing place to be inside. It's really comfortable and welcoming.
-
Reliabilty.
Looks.
Got plenty of room for a small car.
-
wouldnt say its a small car,
good size,
good engine,
smooth ride,
looks good,
solid
can honestly say its the best car i have owned, and has tones of potenial
-
Tunability for sure!
Looks especially the rear quarter on 3 door cars shown by this photo:
especially when it's lowered with bigger wheels (think AShs old sig with his old wheels;))
And also the fact you don't have ti re-time it ever time you drive it (like a mk2)
And poserbility of course  :afro:
-
I just love the shape, the interiors arent half bad either tbh.
With the 1.8t's I love the tuneablility too!
Rear quarter on a 3dr FTW!

For me it was the looks,I believe VW got that shape spot on.
And what a bus, mine was the PD150 and carted me, a car full and 3 surfboards all over the UK.Never let me down, neither did the previous 1.8T.
When I traded him in for the new GTI,parking him up for the last time I,m embarrassed to say was a bit uncomfortable.Owned from new and 40,000 miles of sheer pleasure.
Whoever you are,ya bought a great fecking car mate.

Definately the pull the engine gives in 3rd gear, the whoosh of the turbo, the recaro seats are incredibly comfy....... It looks stunning, and is by far the best car i've ever owned.
Its great pulling up at a set of traffic lights with some Nova, Astra, punto or Civic beside you and leaving them for dead....I love it!
-
The MKIV still looks fresh even after ten years (God..has it really been out that long!!). The quality was/is top notch too.
-
Indeed, quality. I've never had such a well put together car. Feels like a rock :)
-

best thing bout mine so far is comfy leather mmmmmmmmmmmmm leather

That little sunviser in the centre. Pointless really but shows the detailed thought that went into it.... Oh and the retracting bit for the rear parcel shelf..... and that they took the time to cover up the front seat runners with plastic so coins and other crud couldn't get there and jam it up.
Interior build quality in general is / was streets ahead.
-
err.. guess the TDIs would make a decent towing vehicle for a mk2?
-
that they took the time to cover up the front seat runners with plastic so coins and other crud couldn't get there and jam it up.
they have this massively technologically advanced feature on mk2s too.
-

its not actually a sun visor, its designed to take the glare off the interior mirror when the centre console light are on, and it works really well. try it next time its dark.
best thing about a MK4 this forum :afro:

I love everythin about my mk4, its got cream leather for a start and its in the best colour (dark blue of course) :D
After having 3 french cars in a row i can deffinitaly say Germany makes the best cars, the build quality and comfort is absolutly amazing. Its such an easy car to drive, i felt the first time i got in it that everything was just in a perfect driving possision.
There are loads of little touches of class all over the car that i still keep kinding as ive only had mine for about 2 months.
Tuneablitiy is a big plus, reliablility and also fuel consumption. Its pretty fast as well and makes a great turbo sound as standard. Cant wait to add a few subtle mods, ive already got my german plates on which look good.
-
EVERYTHING! So good I now own TWO 2002 GTI's. My wife would not let me have hers so I got my own!!
Had an old Honda Civic and one thing I so looked forward to was the drinks holder to hold my coffee on the way to work (Civic you had to change gear with left hand - New Zealander - hold coffee with right hand and steer with knee ). Would you believe it, my new one has a buggered drinks holder!! Very expensive to replace but it's installed and worth every cent.
Just need to find a Gamma stereo like my other one..
Best cars ever!!
