Well chaps and chapettes, following on from a previous thread I've done the deed and bought myself a MK5 GTI! Tornado Red, 5 dr, leather interior, ipod armrest...and I think thats about it, almost the spec I wanted apart from the colour and no MFSW / Highline. Picking her up tomorrow evening. I was seriously considering buying a brand new one on PCP as it would have been the same a month as a 3 year old one at the stealers on HP but I couldn't be assed with the wait.
Trading in my mint mk4 1.8T, feel a bit sad doing that as it was my first car and I feel a bit disloyal choping her in for a younger model when there is really nothing wrong with her. Ah well onwards and upwards!
Not planning on doing too many mods but I will deff be painting the rear bumper, dont know about the skirts or front lip, doesn't look too bad - does this have any impact on the insurance?
Does the Mk5 have footwell lighting? I know with most vags this is part of a lighting pack but on the current options list I don't see this but people have mentioned it before?
I'm sure I'll have some more Q's tomorrow night. Cant wait!

hi mate, you wont be disapointed with your choice, just ask aland amongst others when they have recently changed up a mark.
The footwell lights are as standard, and i think also doors have them aswell which light the ground, but cant remember if thats in the Packs??.

Welcome to the 'club'! As Phil said you will not be dissapointed  Not bad for a second car either, mine was an MG Metro

If your sale falls through for any reason, have a look at mine in the "For Sale" section.
Similar to the one you're buying but 3dr and has MFSW and highline computer.
Hope you enjoy your GTi ownership as mush as I have!

Another MK4 convert, I did the same thing about 3 months ago now. Your going to love the MK5!

I fell in love with it when I took a spur of the moment decision to test drive one a couple of weeks ago. Then I was going to be sensible and wait till the end of the year before changing cars...so much for that!
I'll keep that in mind Mr Cat, fingers crossed everything goes OK but hopefully you'll shift yours soon.
I guess its not to shabby for a second car at all, mind you I didn't get my first car till I was 22 as I was busy dodging soap and taxes till then!

Welcome mate, you should see Yaagars post he has colour coded his rear bumper and is from your neck of the woods too.
