There's a large open hole/aperture at the top of the inner arches around the suspension strut - thats where it gets in and drops down into the wing recess. TT has posted on this before.
Wonder if the mudflaps have anything to do with trapping the dirt behind there - must check mine

I see,
to change the thread ever so slightly what Meg's super degreaser like for cleaning the sills, noticed the wee lip inside holds a fair amount of road crud.

Good on ya Shaun  I'd do it if I had the time mate!! What with kids/Grand Prix etc there never seems enough time during the weekend........... Although I wasn't on here early enough to see the pics I can imagine

I'm not to keen to be honest , I always find auotglym engine and machine cleaner does a good job, just spray it on and agitate with a brush

Same here, there's nothing wrong at all looking after your car properly. I'd buy a used car from 182 as he clearly takes pride in his car and spends his free time looking after it well. Good on ya mate.

Nothing wrong with removing the inner arch every now and then, stuck mud is a right rust trap :) Blue nothing wrong with your cleaning either :)

What holds the wheel arch guards in place??? Phylis could do with her Hairs shaving from her armpits no doubt!

should be just a few torx screws holding them in place
on my MKIV there's 4 at the front of the arch and 3-4 at the rear
