Just on way home earlier on our local DC and a hideously MASSIVE piece of what looked like MDF came flying up from under the car in front and introduced itself to the front of my beloved car.. After cursing just about every swear word in the english language and probably a few others, I eventually pulled in to inspect the damage... Not good!
From what I can gather..
N/S Headlight... FOOKED!
Bonnet... FOOKED!
Front bumber... Needs paint
N/S Headlight washer... FOOKED & missing (probably scattered on the A46 somewhere
Front Grill... Cracked
Piece of trim next to Headlight washer... Yes you guessed it... FOOKED!
Spoke with MD already and plans are already in place to get it sorted and i'm going to see my local Bodyshop man tomorrow first thing. Will also get some better pics up.. (Just got this one for now off my phone)

Only just realised it's come out blurry so you can't see much, but get the idea..
I've got no interest in driving or even looking at the car at the min and just want it back to normal ASAP.. Just need to find the A HOLE who's lorry the wood fell off and remove his scalp..
Not happy!
-
Gutted for you mate, could have been alot worse though it could have come through the windscreen and done you some damage, and the fact your company will sort it is a bonus
-
Bad luck mate. Hopefully not too much of a problem and should be fixed OK. I'd definately go for a new bonnet as that looks twisted and unlikely ever to go back to normal.
Any police traffic monitoring cameras on that stretch of the road - report it to them, you just might get lucky.

Cheers guys.. Like you say Gaz, it could of been worse. It did actually hit my screen after bouncing off my bonnet, but hasn't cracked it..
Think the headlight is going to be the most costly. Any ideas how much they are chaps?
-
Gutted for you fella
-
No idea, bet there's no change from 150 quid
-
Not good chap, hearing about any damage to a GTI is bad news, it'll soon be fixed and your ok
-
Really sorry to hear about the damage  It must be the undercover ED30 number reduction unit having another pop at reducing our numbers
Like Gaz said though ....it could have been much worse.
-
Not good mate, hope its sorted soon
-
Sorry to hear about that vtec! But like that others said it could have been alot worse considering it did hit your windscreen. Might want to get that checked out too, from what I remember about my physics lessons a polarised filter should show up any stress points on the screen.
Hope you get it sorted soon mate!
-
Bad luck mate, hope you get it sorted quickly.

Gutted for you mate. Hope it all gets sorted

this might be of interest mate, sorry to hear all this, see what you think as i reckon a dealer would charge you double the price this chap is askin

Doh!, hope you get it sorted soon.
-
Sh1t that sucks.

same thing happened to me in the Wrangler.Bloody scary I can tell ya.Glad your ok.
-
Bad luck Vtec. At least no one was hurt, and your car will look good as new soon.
-
Cheers guys..
Quick update on the damage. Had my mate look at it this morning and full report is that it needs..
New bonnet
New Headlight
New grill
New air intake
New Headlight washer and cap
and obviously paint work.
But good new is he gets parts very cheap and it's looking at being under £600 + the dreaded all done.. Just got to wait till end of next week though till it goes in..
-

Gutted for you - but at least it won't be too long before it's right.
And as I've said before (about my own car when it was smashed) - it's only a piece of metal. (Ducks for cover!)
She'll be right as rain soon.

-
At least it still goes well..
-
....Very bad luck this happened to you. Like you, I'd feel gutted. But from now on, it can only get better - You are over the worst.
-
Not good there Ben, but as the rest said could be worse. I know where your coming from reg not wanting to drive or look at it. I have been the same since i got my doors hit a few months ago i have hardly driven the car, in the last 3 weeks i have driven it once.I am still paying for the damage, new insurance Co just charged me another £92 on top of my renewal for the claim plus the £300 excess.

Seeing as we are all looking on the bright side of things.... atleast you didnt have xenons or im sure you could have doubled that figure :nerd:
-
^^^ They are Xenon's, aren't they?

Sorry i think you might be right.. didnt look at all pics. What guess i meant is that its a good job they were not damaged
-
I know what you mean, but if you look at the light the sliver piece around the xenon beam has broken so it will require a new headlight as well I think. That's not going to be cheap.
-

Look at his signature....
-
Yes mate they are Xenons and the N/S one is fooked. If you look at the close up of the headlight (4th pic) you can see the main lamp has fallen back and the crome surround is in bits around the bottom of the light...
Was quoted £200 + the dreaded for a new light (without bulb) which I thought was silly cheap for a xenon..

Yeah i get the picture now

Ben could you put your lights on so R32UK can see the pictures betters Your suppossed to be cheering him up.
Tell Hurdy things could be worse he could have opted for DSG.
-
Unlucky mate, I though the xenon was around the £700 mark on its own...
-
Unlucky Ben. Gutted for you.
On the bright side, it is an ideal chance to add an uprated intake
-
Ha ha... Looks that way mate.. But think i'll stick with a panel filter for now.. As the only decent intakes out there involve losing your engine cover and I don't want that..
You got the pump on now mate?
-

So did I.. I'm sure they've priced me for the standard headlight, but they insist it's the xenon..
Will find out end of week..

Went to fit it on Sunday night and had all the tools except a plug key . To swap the pump, you need to get the engine to TDC and to do that you need to have the plugs out so compression is not there to stop movement.
Nonetheless, it will be done in the very near future . Really can't wait now......

Dont think JBS touched the plugs...

Good news mate.. Make sure you give us a shout when it;s done and let us know what it's like.. When you getting it on the rollers again?
-
Just spoke to the bodyshop and parts arriving tomorrow morning and once bonnet is painted car goes in to get new parts fitted. So should hopefully be back to normal by thurs..
But I also noticed that I caught one of my wheels the other day (first one in over 3 years and 100,000 miles). It's not huge though and a quick dap with my marker pen and it's hardly noticable.. Still pain in ass!
Also had my engine management light come on yesterday and took it to my mate with vagcom and it's flagged up something to do with the cat/fuel emmisions (basically saying the cat isn't doing it's job properly). He said not to worry about it, but if it comes on again to get it in to dealer. Thing is I have a full Milltek (sports cat) so would it be to do with that? Anyone had a similar thing?
It never rains but pours eh.. :undecided:
-
Could be just the sensor - there is one before and one after the cat
-
check the lamba sensor that goes into the milltek it could be fooked or be loose, just jack it up and check it
-
Yeah we did think it maybe a lamder sensor. Will just see if it flags it up again I suppose..
-
Sounds like a knacker now,
Only joking
-
....Also check the fuse - #32 ?? Happened on a friend's GTI recently and that's all it was.

It was supposed to be on the r/r tonight, but thats not happening now. As soon as its done, I will let you know though
-
i hated teh A46!
:(

LMAO.. It is at the min.. You want it..?
-
In all fairness to the car, the lamder probe thing is the only thing that has gone (possibly) wrong with the car in 10k. Not had a single mishap with reliability with it whatsoever. hasn't been to the dealer once yet..
Just doesn't like kerbs and flying bits of MDF...

The lamda fault can get thrown when you fit a high flow cat, seem to remember somethin about resetting the values, maybe yours was just on the limit to not throw a code and now with a bit of wear it has?, just a thought, could be way off

But that was for the old skool toughened windscreens, and not modern laminated ones. Thankfully it was a laminated, because Vtec Abuser would probably be still pulling splinters from his teeth with the old style screens.

Like Hurdy said the undercover agents are trying to take us out. People tend to reverse at high speeds towards me all the time since ive had mine.
Seen a telegraph pole in the middle of the M62 before, good job I was in the fast lane and sailed past it.
