Those have been around for a while. PM the user called "Gulfstream" on this forum. He produces and sells those along with a foot rest version.

I used some thin double sided sticky pads cut to size and some red electrical tape under the GTI bit.

I think some others have used liquid adhesives.

Double sided tape is what I was thinking. Cheers mate.

Try very thin slivvers of Blu Tac, worked for me!

i used double sided tape the type used for carpet fitting..very very thin so height remains below the plastic.

Mods..Can the links at the start of this thread be removed?...

Being deliverd first week of Oct but I have been gathering a few bits and bobs already! Excited isn't the word, as im sure you know!

Title: Re: seat insert mod, nice nice
Post by: Pirelli_P on 14 August 2008, 09:59
yeh very excited and time seems to go sooo slow!

The seats are a little different and took a while for me to like them. My ideal GTI would have been a 3dr white edition 30 with the black wheels and the tartan recaros. however since the edition 30 was no longer in production and those seats were a non starter on the ed30, i went for this! I'm sure once i get it ill love it!

Pirelli_P most people will struggle to like those seat's including me but they are inside the car which is your own personal space so the only thing people will see is you zooooming past them with your big KO4
Also those open wheels willshow off a big brake kit beautiflully  :smug:

All very true! I did see the seats before I ordered it and in the flesh I did actually like them, but since no one on here has one and there aren't many pics of other people's Pirelli's then its easy to lose contact with it and begin to doubt your choice!  :undecided:

I like you're thinking with the brake's, mods like that are an extremely slippery slope, but a very enjoyable slope!

there was a black pirelli sitting in my local VW, i had a good look around it, the wheels are sweet when close up but the gap's are huge showing off the small brakes something like this would sort it out

I thimk VW are mad personalizing the interior so much but just bacause it's not my cup of tea doesn't mean other's wont like it, enjoy and dont worry about other views were all different

The best colour with the right ammount of doors ;)

Anyway, I've just poped out into the car park after borrowing some stuff from work and managed to get mine put on.

And these are all the tools I needed.

What tape is that? I assume the white one is double sided, what is the red one?

Did you stick the tap onto the handle then put the plate ontop to get the shiny surface coming through?

Thanks!
Title: Re: seat insert mod, nice nice
Post by: AlanD on 14 August 2008, 13:10
The red one is just electrical insulation tape and the white as you said is double sided. Yeah, I cut the red one to fit in the space and stuck it on and then cut out the shape on the double sided stuff and then stuck it on top, looks mustard.

haha yeh work seems to be taking longer than normal! This is the perfect outlet!

Good work with the photoshop! There is an arguement for both colours (traditional red or Pirelli yellow) so i might place both down to see which goes best!
