Title: SETTING YOUR CARS IDLE

hi i was once told how to adjust the idle of my mk3 golf gti 8valve, but hav kind of fogotten a bit.... something about takeing th emiddle wire off the coil over and setting the rev then puttin the wire back in...but do i do it wens its hot cold etc plez help as i hav real low idle.....

i thought the mk3 8v idle is non-adjustable, all done by ECU.
i might be wrong.

What do you mean by low  ?

mine sits around 800

well i was on teh phone to a vw specialist in derby area and he sed that u can set it on 8valve and 16, something like i described above, well thing is if ive got my air con on and i pull up to a set of lights teh idle drops very low (because air con is on) and teh revs start flickering until i turn teh aircon off, its jus a case of slightly higherin the revs, 800 seems a bit low im gonna try get mine set to about 9-10

seems like there is an underlying cause, just upping the revs will mask the problem, there is a compensator device, that may be on the blink. it should up the revs slightly when you swith air con etc on, i think it is controlled by the ecu but im not sure

ahhh i think u may be tru there as once i did hav it on and wen i pulled up to stop at lights it didnt do it...but then later on it started again?????
