Hi GolfGTI members,
Well its been some 21 months since I sold my Golf GTI mk4 anniversary and left the volkswagen family after a long history of owning GTI's and Veedubs. I have since owned an 05 Civic Type R and more recently a 53 plate Subaru STI Type UK but since last week I am back with my dream Mk5 06 plate Golf GTI in graphite blue, 3 door and 18" Monzas and full Vienna Leather.
The car is fantastic and drives so well, good for work, transporting family and for giving a good kaning!!! Handling and fun factor is better in my opinon than my old scooby or CTR. So glad to be back owning a GTI again!!!
I will post some pics when I shine her and give her a damn good waxing.
I have one question for you Mk5 GTI owners, since owning the car I keep fidling about with the seat position as I seem to be getting lower back ache? I am 29 and have never suffered from back ache from any of my old GTI's or other hot hatch motors. Has anyone had any back pain from the MK5 GTI leather seats???? I would be very interested to hear from you.
Ta

i dont find them bad at all, how long have you had it, perhaps you need to give it time to get used to it, i always have a little problem to start with then im fine after a short while

I wasn't sure if that was the case, but that is what i thought.

I have had the car nearly a week and notched up 350 miles made up of a long drive to Chester Zoo, short trips to work and back and a bit of motorway driving. I feel comfy in the car at first but then when I get out a feel my lower back aching.
I am only 5ft 10 so average height and I am not a fatty. At the moment I have the seats on lowest height position with a slight recline. I tried lumbar support and it does seem to help a little. I did try putting the seat in vertical victor mode and I must admit I didnt have any back pain. Think I need to keep playing!!!

well, on mine theres loads of adjustment, so you should be able to get it comfy, i reckon you need to give it time, you will get used to it ?

you are one of the minority that experience backache with the seats.
the design of the seat doesn't give enough lumbar support for some. All I can suggest is you fiddle with the seat setting in the hope of finding one that suits you.
this thread may offer you some ideas to resolve this problem.

As everything else 80's is coming back into fashion these might become cool again. Then again maybe not.
